Thanks Rick and Andreas :)

(snip). Looking forward to seeing the results of your masking!

Me too!  ;D

I was afraid the 1 mm tape I have is too wide, but it's what I have.
The pre-shading...

Top.

And underside.

Pre-shading done with black-grey...I like to work from dark to light with increasingly lighter shades.
Don't ask me why...it's not some kind of wisdom I have. Just the way I do it.  ::)

Note 1: the large one is the bottom wing...the 2 halves are the top wings.
Note 2: the tailplanes are also the larger late type.

After the light blue (Vallejo 70.906 Pale Blue) and two more layers with increasing amounts of white added.

I don't think the 1 mm tape was a problem after all. Probably more of an issue with translucent CDL....not so much with a painted wing.

Tomorrow gloss, decals and semi gloss. Probably time for more jobs.

Robin  :)
Found my mojo and clipped it's wings, so it won't fly away.

Ah, nice. I wondered how you achieve that rib effect.

Your speed is amazing for someone like me! Your speed combined with good results is even more amazing! But don't stop, I like every update equally much!

Thanks all,

I had two minor issues with the decals.
First...the crosses don't come with a white background. ;D
I didn't check...just expected them on a white square background. No problem of course.
Second the decals are very brittle...the first one became a jigsaw puzzle....the second, with all the love and care I could give...3 pieces. :-\
Fixed with paint. Looks okeyish with varnish on top.

Licked my wounds and did some more....

Looks good. Whatever's in the glass looks good too.

Glad I'm not the only one who partakes of nerve calming agents when modelling

This is looking good, Robin.  The pre-shading worked out okay.

Thanks T., thanks guys,

I find it very difficult to keep the pre-shading with the 3 colour camouflage...even though I used the colours next to eachother...not stacked.
Soft edges means free hand airbrushing with no room for error....with this scale it's a real challenge for me. :o
Wings are kinda easy, but the fuselage was/is tough.

There is some overspray and paint damage here and there, so I need to revisit all the colours. Hope I won't go from bad to worse.
At least I can mask the partly black tail fin and rudder and the white on the top wing.
Fingers crossed the rest of the decals will behave themselves.

And then there's the odd looking "6" on the fin...still no clue how to do that.
Perhaps I'll ask our masking wizard FAf/Fredrik to help me out.

More soon,

Robin  :)

Of course I can try to help out... if you're prepared to wait a short while you can have masks for the remaining crosses as well.
