Great wok Robin, and well worth your efforts. It's detailing like this that "make the model" and you are off to a spectacular start! Great work already, I'm looking forward to following this Build. :)
Cheers,
Lance

Fine start, such preparation work will pay as open frames give a realistic look to every model.

Great start Robin!
Recently I ordered some paints from Drooling bulldog WWI range, and this Roland kit from my stash is a good candidate to try those. So I will follow closely!

But before I should finish some shelf queens ...

Cheers,
Frank

Your interior work is looking awesome! Opening those panels certainly expanded your Opportunities!

Personally I think that the kind of extra details that you are adding are worthwhile because it turns a kit into a model. The details are very well done and I can imagine already that you have many more extras lined up.

Thanks all. I try my best.  :)

This is the plane I'm building...the Schusta 6 "white 6"...

The photo is an enlarged cut out of a photo seen on WNW.
Source....WNW Roland C.IIa (late) photo gallery:
http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/productdetail?productid=3110&cat=1#

Late version rudder and tail and late exhaust used on Linke-Hofmann built C.IIa's.
Black rudder, no fuselage stripes on this one. 3 tone soft edge camouflage scheme.

I worked whole day on it, but much time needed to measure where to put that 0,5 x 0,5 mm...0,25 mm thick piece of Evergreen. :-X
Figuring out the observer's seat attachment points...a couple of hours...plastic and glue...1 minute. ;D

Stuff like that.

Getting close to some paint though.  :)

More soon,

Robin

Thanks all. :)

Opening the frames is like opening a can of worms.
Because of it, I have to change, add, make, alter...you name it...about everything. :o

It's a challenge to get the puzzle together and even more to make it structuraly sound.
But...getting there. :)

Robin

It is looking really good and all of that new detail is fantastic! However and even if I probably would do the same, how much of this will be visible after closing up the fuselage? Is it something one should do if building this model?

I think it's worth the effort, because the two "holes" are fairly large and the top wing will be fixed to te fuselage. It won't block sight.
And then there the windows. I don't think you can see much through them, but at least they let light in.
Not even checked them yet, when they're not okey, I'll replace them with something better.
Most of the interior will be painted a pale blue-grey (Vallejo 71.046)

When dry....paint.

It is great to know that your outstanding interior work will be seen after the fuselage is closed!

Thanks guys. :)

Slow but steady progress...

Still a lot to do before I can close the fuselage, but that's fine.
I kept the interior light, because I'll treat it with oils later on...so it will get darker.

More soon,

Robin
