Thanks Bob and Fredrik.

I see what I can do myself first, but  when I fail...I gladly accept your help. :)

One thing will be easier with the top wing crosses...the white background runs from edge to edge, so not a square.
Seen on the "white 6" photo. Kinda unusual for a Roland C.IIa.

Finished painting

Fixed the overspray, repaired the paint damage, white fields for the crosses and the black tail.
Radiators are on...ready for varnish.

The interior is still visible...

So I think it was worth the effort. Besides...it was fun to do.
Spandau will cover the seam in front of the cockpit, so I didn't try hard to get that flush.

Robin, your speed * quality value is impressive!
I hope the lower wing fits to the fuselage without putty? This is often a potential problem on Eduard kits, so I added the lower wing before painting, or remove the wings from middle part.

I guess it will look great once mounted!

Cheers,
Frank

Nice to see the outside and the inside! Your efforts are well worth showing. And besides... if you thought it was fun, then it was worth it regardless! 🙂🙂

Thanks gentlemen,

Frank...the under wing / fuselage fit was...and still is...wonky. :-\
I had to make the choise...wing on before paint...or after paint.
Before paint, there's more you can do to make it seamless, but it will make painting and placing eyelets in the nick much harder.
I decided to go for...wing on later and live with it. The front seam is (to a certain extent) correct.
The rear seam...when it's bad, I'll deploy my secret weapon....a bomb rack. ;D

The decals went on more or less ok, only minor cursing and a little touch up work.

Varrnish still wet here.

Still that darn white 6 to go.
Before I consede defeat and ask Fredrik to help me out...I give it a try myself.

It's a start. :)

And finally done with masking the windows...

I replaced the masking after each layer of paint...5 times. :-X
Glad that's over and glad they're fine.

I can now do the eyelets...when done the wings can go on.

Thanks milady, thanks guys. :)

With the bomb rack in mind, I went on a search for 1/48 PuW 12,5 kg bombs...with little hope finding any.
But, to my amazement...

For less then 3 pounds...problem solved. :)

With dinner guests tonight...not much time today, so eyelets have to wait.
Still found a couple of nice small jobs I could do, so it's not a complete wasted day.

Modified the water tank, finished the exhaust and replaced the tree trunk sized tail struts with brass tubes.

Good work there! Did you spray paint or hand paint the six?
Cheers Fredrik

Thanks,

Dry brushed with the mask on and finished with a brush with the mask removed.
Since it was difficult to cut identical masks for both sides...I used the same mask for both sides.
