Hi Rick, just a quick note to confirm Lance's technique on cutting the decals across the aileron hinge line, been doing that for years on my stuff, works great. Regards, Pete.

Thanks for looking in. I have done this myself in the past but thought the gap might be too large to do it on this one. Re thinking now  ::)

The Cabane tripod strut has me thinking of ways to make it accurate. My current plan is to build the jig, use a strut I have from the Fokker DVI( the long one), and running it from its fuselage location to the wing, obviously cutting to length but leaving enough over to drill a location hole in the wing. I then plan to trim the inverted V strut arrangement to meet it near the wing like on the original. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

PS: If you have trouble picturing what I am saying look at the WNW DVII tripod. It shows what is needed. I decided  a few visual aids would be better":

Rick,
I went the opposite way in that the "long" strut on mine meets the "V" strut as the Mikr Mir Instructions and the model parts indicate. I've stared holes through a lot of the photos in the data File and can't say which of the two choices is correct........... but the 3 View Drawings indicate your interpretation is correct. I think you'll find that to use the Jig you'll need the "V" portion of the assembly anchored in first to be able to accurately determine the length of the "long" strut unless you can install the rear and "long" struts permanently at the correct sweep; the Jig should provide that. Here's a couple of shots of mine which I haven't posted to my Build Log yet to illustrate. I should have checked this out on Jamo's Photos of the TVAL Replicas; I'll do that later today.

Cheers,
Lance

That reads a bit like scratch building Rick. Who knows, in a short time you may even be giving one a go! (Hopefully!!)

Thanks Stephen for looking in. As for scratch building...who knows I may take the plunge someday  ::)

Lance,
Thanks for the input. I still have a few days before my work rotation ends so I am just in the planning stages right now.

No doubt about what connects to what in that shot, Rick! I'm leaving mine as is; looks like I'll have to do another to get it right! :o

Wise decision to leave yours as is. Not many will notice the difference anyway. At least we know yours is going to stay attached to the fuselage  ;D
