Hello Lance:

I agree with Tom, having done 4 of the DVII's, covering the whole model with decal takes skill and a good product, I like what you have done and your skill in applying the decal is evident.  The Canadian Maple leaf is a nice contrast to the Lozenge.  The a/c still has it's original look to it, but with a twist.  Looks great so far Lance.  Looking forward to your next post.

Mark & Tom, Thanks for your generous comments.
I finally have an update, albeit small scale as time at the work bench has been severely restricted of late by Spring yard work and some long overdue home renovations.
Having completed the lozenge and sealing it some light post shading was added to the flying surfaces. Since this aircraft was probably handed over right from the Factory I want to keep weather and wear effects reasonably light.

I got the engine cowlings installed next and, despite all my worries, they fitted like little gloves! These I weathered (wore) heavily per the reference photos.

Also added a little oil spray and grime to the bottom and some dirt to the lower wings where the wheels tend to toss stuff...........

.........and some scuff and dirt marks to the cockpit access point on the left fuselage. The coaming needs some touch ups and a wash of black to bring out the creases and ripples.

Here's a shot of the radiator grill, PE from RB Productions, highly recommended little A/M gem. Note to Self..........I see I need to re-spray a little brass on the top of the Radiator.

I'm glad I kept engine detail to the top only, all else is completely hidden with the cowlings on.

Axle Wing with gear struts ready to install....

......and last the hand carved Niendorf Prop; any prop logo experts out there that can positively confirm I've got the correct logo so I can get some sleep!?!

The prop boss is carefully removed from the Kit original. I have to install the rear boss before permanently installing the prop.

Next the Flash Guards, windshield, and Guns get installed, then the struts and upper wing followed by all the "tiny bits". Great Kit thus far, incredibly well engineered fits all round!
I really hope to get some time at her this week as the finish is actually very close.
Cheers,
Lance

Gad Lance, she gets better and better!  Your weathering of the front panels
is really well done as is the underside.  You have really nailed the prop.  I am
looking forward to more bits of inspiration from your amazing talents, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Lance,
Absolutely Terrific work all around. Like Ernie said the Prop is outstanding as is your weathering! I also love the Camo on the cowl panels!

Hi Lance:

Looking mai tee phine!  I especially was drawn to the black cowling engine panels and what a nice contrast they are to the OD and painted lozenge.  This is going to be a real stunner.  I have seen the RB grill, but just haven't popped for one.  I might have to now based on your assessment of it.  I like the subtle weathering on the wings.
Looking forward to the next update.

Looking very smart, Lance -

Good work on your cowling/side panels and nicely weathered.

Here's a big X from my pet kangaroo to Lance for his lovely build log.

I love those lozenge decals, PE radiator grill, the oil stains and your carved prop.  Cutting the prop boss from the kit part must have been very difficult.
Make Otto your motto for lovely spoked wheels.

Thank you all for your positive and supporting comments, they are very much appreciated.
I have not been able to get near the "beastie" since my last update of 3 days ago, the home renovations I mentioned are taking 110% of my time presently. A little frustrating as she is very near finished and I'm looking forward to the end product of this Build. I'm also going to be away the next two weekends so the "rollout" is even further delayed but for good causes. (Grandson's High School Graduation tomorrow followed by the IPMS Western Canada Contest the following Saturday)
I'm hoping to salvage and hour or two later today to get the guns, windshield etc. installed and perhaps get a start on the "tail feathers"; if successful I'll throw on a few more quick photos.
Cheers, and Thanks again for looking and for your comments,
Lance

Fantastic. Just beautiful.
Maybe I'll see you down in Edmonton. A few of us will be going down for the day.
