Rick, the wings look fantastic!  To keep the decal from pulling, replace the blade the very instant it begins to pull, Amigo.
Cheers,
Bud
Thanks Bud, I appreciate your comments greatly. I do have a tendency to use a blade a bit too long  :-[

The wings are looking fantastic Rick. Have you tried trimming the decals with a brand new No.11 scalpel blade, these are a lot sharper than the No11 exacto blades, just a thought.

Des.

Des Thanks and I will have to find some of those scalpel blades and give them a try!

Hello Rick,

Your lozenge looks fantastic my friend. I even had this problem with the rudder decals of the Nieuport who were overlapping. Even with a new blade it was very difficult to have a clean cut. Anyway you made a very good progress. Keep on the fine job!

Kind regards
Patrick

Patrick,
I appreciate your support and comments!
RAGIII

Well done on the lozenge, despite the problems with the elasticity.  I appreciate you
letting us know of the troubles...something to watch for.  I'm enjoying your build and
look forward to the next installments.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Ernie, as always your comments are appreciated. I think Lance has the ultimate solution as I stated above!

Des.

I have a drawer full of those little beauties, my impression was the opposite however I just tried one on the stuff; definitely a lot better however the film is still a "bear" to cut cleanly. Thanks Des, it was a good thought. 8)

Lance

Beautiful work. Really enjoying this(these) build(s).
I think Aviattic mention you could sand the decal trim. I havent tried it yet to see what would happen.

I use good old fashioned rasor blades. Cheap as chips. use each edge once. works a treat.

Hi Rick:

I have found the same problem.  LIke Lance I trim as much as possible before putting them on.  I find a lot of Solva Set decal solution will help with folding them around corners and edges too.  I think Aviattic is trying to resize them IIRC to aleveiate the trimming.  It is certainly and interesting material they use.

Mark,
It is good to know that a modeler of your talent is having the same small issue with the decals. Like I said, trimming before application seems to be the answer!

I have finished painting the wings and fuselage on the Snipe. The rear portion of the Turtle deck is panted service grey as seen on several wartime Snipes. The wings have had pastels applied and were oversprayed with a slightly lighter and more OD overspray to give a little more color leaning towards PC10. Now just a little touch up and weathering. I am very close to mounting the wings and moving on... finally.

The Albatros has had the rib tapes and leading and trailing edge tapes applied. Again just some minor touch up and I will be ready to proceed:

All coming along sweet now, Rick - looking at the pictures you would never know you were having problems trimming the lozenge decals - all looks very neat, actually.

Regards

Dave
