bello, anto'! ;)

really a nice work!
to paint the 5s, probably I would have used the 5s cut in the tape protecting the white base. after painting the final finish, I would have removed the tape. easy easy! ;)

Grazie!

Yes that was the solution, I didn't think at all to that easy easy way, although I saw it in many WIPs...

Will take note for next time!!!!

Thanks again Paolo,
I think the best for me is to paint the basis in the marking colour, cut the shape with the scissors from masking tape, apply the shape and paint it over.

I've seen your D III and it's really astonishing, hats off!

Antonio

Hello Antonio:

This is really a neat looking airplane.  I have seen this done before and it is such an impressive looking model when finished with all the wood work, the colorful wings etc.  In fact, I think yours was one I had seen before.  Anyway, you are doing a great job here and I look forward to seeing it as you progress.

Best

Mark

Hallo everybody, thanks Mark and Zabu for following my WIP!
Here are some progress done during the weekend:

Decal work on the fuselage sides:

Rigging coming out of the fuselage were set in place and the two halves were closed:

I had to carve again the openings on the floor after sanding the joint

This is how th model looks like tonite...

In the pas days I studied how to create the anchor points where the rigging is attached on the wings and sketched a drawing of  the solution:

Then I prepared 24 bits of Nickel tube (Inner diam. 0.4 mm / Outer diam. 0.6 mm) each 3 mm long:

Next step will be to complete the upper surfaces of the fuselage, then fix the lower wings and tail planes.

I know the "Acqua / Glicerina" decal is too big... but that was the smaller size I was able to get from my Inkjet without smudging the letters.

Ciao!

Antonio

Hi folks!
Thanks everybody for looking and commenting...
I made some small advancements during the WE:

Thank you Mark,
here is some steps ahead made during this weekend:

I decided to made a new tail skid from scratch, the provided in the box (on the left in the pic) was unacceptable to me.
On the right is my tail skid, it's overall 1 cm long and the zoom was so high that the quality of the image turned out bad.
The skid will be painted and completed once glued below the fuselage: the metal piece fixing it to the metalworks on the tail is still missing.

Here is the radiator, I painted  with flat aluminum to make it come out of the dark background painted in Tamiya Burnt Iron.
I added the brass rim closing the hole in the metal grid opening around the prop hub and added the top water tank cork as well.

Top wooden panels and metal engine cowling were painted

Just a couple of shots of the IP just to remember the work done !

I decided to add the leather trim on the cockpit opening. I used a thin plastic pipe painted with vallejo leather colour

Goodnight everybody!
