I did find a little time for the Roland C.II after all.
The screw heads - or was it nailed (?) - of the sliding guides were indicated with a 0.2mm carbide drill bit

A sneaky look through the window:

Precise filling and sanding is important on these wing/fuselage joints.

The wing roots are filed precisely straight at the transition to the wing with a fine diamond file so that the wings fit cleanly.

The joint seam at the cockpit edge is reproduced with thin hot-drawn plastic.

When filing the lower wing root smooth, I damaged the mounting cover of the antenna.
A disk with a diameter of 4.7mm was punched out of 0.2mm thick (or thin) plastic card, drilled out in the middle and glued on.

The screw heads all around were again marked with a 0.2mm drill bit.
Actually, these should be raised screw heads ..... Let's see, maybe I'll glue short, thin pieces of casting slip into the holes and cut them to the right length to imitate screw heads.
But nobody will actually see that down there under the fuselage anyway

Then I reach for the kitchen towel, Tamiya tape and Maskol.
The fuselage is now ready for priming.
I will use "Sailcolor" from Gunze for this.

It is interesting how short and compact the fuselage of the Pfalz D.VIII looks next to the two-seater Roland C.II.
As a reminder, the single-seat Albatros fighters are only marginally shorter than the Roland C.II.
If you have these sizes in mind, you realize how small a Pfalz D.VIII is in comparison.

Great work all around. Always a pleasure to follow your build logs!

Pfalz D.VIII is indeed short but if you add the rudder and the engine cowling it becomes much longer  ;D
Funny, I have just realized that my two completed models - Pfalz D.VIII and Roland C.II are standing side by side on the same shelf :)
