Outstanding results on the Engine! Looking at the completed pylon/engine I am really impressed with all!

Thanks Rick!  I hope all the rest of it doesn't disappoint.

I did install the engine and I started the radiator and added a lower hose/tube to the bottom.  Now I need to figure out the geometry of the hoses that go into the top of the rad.  Also, the only picture I see of this actual airplane from when it was captured doesn't seem to show the hand crank on the front.  I'm going to leave it since I think it just looks cool...some artistic license.

More soon...Dan

Looking fantastic, Dan!  I will use your build as inspiration for my own eventually.  Thanks for showing the way!

Best,

Bob

Thanks to you, Bob and Rick!  For tonight's episode, here are the radiator hoses attached.  I'm calling the engine "done" for now.  I do need to add a starting handle later and it needs an oil tank too.  But I want to wait until I add the top wing center section and make sure all those struts align first!

More soon and thanks for looking,
Dan

An excellent idea Dan! For what it's worth, the Curtiss boat at my local museum has its crank fitted:

All,

Made the center section with no fuss and then started test fitting it to the forward struts.  Looks like it may fit straight and true!

The first pic shows the center structure consisting of 5 ribs (two with "wood" color on them), a spar and a nice straight wire that will hopefully stop any droop.

I'll need to make the rear struts to test some more but hopefully all will be connected tomorrow.

Cheers,
Dan

The center wing section looks great....and Sturdy! I would think all of the wing alignment depends on this being straight which yours seems to be! Lovely Boat Dan.

It IS sturdy now...especially, Rick!

I got the center section almost done and got the wire painted black to match the engine trapeze.  It is very strong but I think I need to do a bit of rigging on the front "A" frame too. The "N" struts really make this thing robust.  Shouldn't be any issues attaching the top wing (I hope!).

Can't wait for the rest of the wings!  More soon...Dan

Thanks, Tim!  I'm working on the wings now.  Hopefully everything will line up close enough "for the girls we date".  I'm trusting in my math and the 3-views.  We'll see!  ;D

A tad more today! It's actually still going well.  Lost my religion a few times while getting the prototype upper wing panel made, but all went well with a tad o' tweaking.  I think the other three panels should be comparative dawdles...test fit seems ok so far.

More soon,
Dan

Lovely work Dan, she's coming along famously! Which reminds me, when I recently shifted I brought a certain Avro kit with me...
