Thanks, Tim and Rick!  What a card, Tim!   ;D ;D

Another simple jig was in order to start the trapeze.  It was exciting and it's still a little delicate, but with careful soldering and additions...it should be good!  I got the main supports located correctly by cutting and putting a piece of paper over the mount area, poked the holes in-line with the the fuselage decking holes located in the kit and you end up with a near perfect line-up.  The forward and aft "A-frame" is also dead vertical so it's at right angles to the top of the fuselage deck so that geometry is easy.

Anyway...the state of things.  I hope to strengthen it tomorrow and start the engine soon!

Stay tuned...Dan

Looking great Dan, and I still can't believe that hull isn't resin or plastic!

I agree although I would add it could be Real wood. The printing is outstanding and when constructed so smoothly really looks the part!

Thanks Rick and Zac.  I reckon it's real wood since paper is wood!   ::) ::)  I can dream.

I got all the parts (sans the struts for the wings) on the engine mount cage.  They are piano wire, brass and some plastic sprue when not load-bearing. I then taped off the engine mounts, primed it and sprayed everything black.  Looks homogeneous and now I'll start rigging it with EZ-line.

Now THAT'LL be fun...More soon,
Dan

I go the engine mount all rigged with EZ-Line.  I'll use some epoxy to attach it to the fuselage to allow a bit of wiggle time to get things nice, straight and true.  Then I think I'll relax with the tails and the engine!  ;D

Cool...Dan

Thanks Rick and Bob!   ;)

Minefield was the word for the tail but it went smoothly since I made a jig much like when I'm putting on a wing from a Fokker D-VII with super complicated cabanes.  You can see it in one of the shots.  Then I just used dividers, cut wire to length and glued with super glue and zip kicker.  Took it apart and it's straight, strong and true!  Took a couple of tries but I do think that may be the hardest part.  Next I think I'll work on the center section/engine mount and leave the rudder/fin and elevators off until later.  Just more to break!

Thanks for looking...Dan

Now that is a great idea of the tail jig!!! I wish I had something like this on my Lukgraph build :)

Great job all around.

May I ask, what engine is in the kit? Hiero?

Hi Przemol...the man, the myth, THE LEGEND!  Thanks for looking at my post.  I had no idea there were so many Lohners out there until someone told me.  Your build log is a symphony for the eyes.  Just grand.

I think I'll need to do something similar for a wing jig.  The kit comes with a placement jig for the stagger but I think it'll need more!

Yes...the engine appears to be a Hiero.  Looks rather accurate, though.  I think this airplane was first supplied with the Rapp.  In any event, I'll start on that soon.

One question for you...what do you use for your spark plug wiring?  I have some pretty thin fuse wire but wanted to know what you use as it looks smashing.

Thanks again and I hope mine goes half as well as yours...Dan

Thanks so much, Rick.  I'm really enjoying this one a lot.

A bit more.  Tails built and I got them installed too as well as rigged.  All I need are the elevator control cables.  Ran out of steam tonight and now my Mother-in-Law is coming so not sure how much more will get done in the next two weeks.  I'd so hoped to get the rear end all completed.  Maybe I can stuff some time in tomorrow before going to the airport?  We'll see.

Looking pretty dandy, I must say.

Looking sharp Dan. Perfect alignment and nice rigging.
Two weeks of my mother in law would drive me to the model bench for months! 😂

Thanks Zac, Tim and Rick!  I just this morning snuck in one last rigging job before the Horsemen arrive...

Got the control wires on!  It's break time but next will be the engine.  Fun stuff to come!
