Lohner T.I 1/33rd from Orlik
« on: May 13, 2023, 02:32:48 PM »
The disease continues unabated. I'm starting this one next.  It will be purposeful yet delicate.  Would be a great beginning for a diorama too!  The kit has some nice jigs to make wing and tail alignment much easier.  The laser cut thin cardboard is awesome.

Anyway, starting this on the weekend.  Stay tuned.

Thanks, Rick...here is a bit more.  I started the fuselage/hull and it has a nice interior framing along with multiple thicknesses on each side and then finally, the outer skin.  Should be nice and firm when it's done.  Still trying to figure out how to put in the cockpit and where to add the forward tip of the hull.  I think if I make the cockpit, things will be revealed.  So far, though...smooth sailing.  I love the treatment of the printed wood too.

Stay tuned,
Dan

Another Lohner — should be the third one at the same time. Great start here, too!

Thanks, Folks.  I didn't realize this machine was so popular!  So many Lohners at one time.  Pretty cool.

Started the cockpit complete with glassed compass and instruments.  Control column and seats with belts are next...Dan

Hi Rick...

This one is really looking nice.  The kit fits really well so far.  I'm not looking forward to the forward underside hull, however!  We'll see.
I moved along on the interior making the pulleys and control wires along with the rudder pedals and control yoke.  It's all a combo of paper, pulled sprue and thin brass with EZ-line to top it off.  Not sure if this should be a wheel or stick, but the kit calls for a stick.  I do see a photo of the Italian version of this machine with a wheel so I don't know which is correct.  But I stayed with the kit for now.  You can see I started adding the tub to the hull and I got one colored side skin on as well.  Starting to look pretty cool!

Thanks for looking,
Dan

Such a cardboard model is a challenge. I will be happy to watch the progress of the work. Fingers crossed for a nice build and until next time.

Evening, All!

A bit more done.  This thing is so well engineered that it took about 5 minutes to get this thing skinned to this point.  The underside will be tricky but so far, it's just been fun!  Even the nose seems to line up well.

Wow! That is really coming along nicely.  Now that the east part is complete you will soon start the real fun of the tail and lower wing attachment  ;D
Great work Dan!
