Thanks so much, Rick!

Not much more done, but I at least started the crank case.  Turns out that visiting mothers-in-law put a real crimp on one's modeling time!   :o ;D

Anyway, cylinders will be soon...Dan

Dan. I just wanted to say what wonderful work you’ve accomplished with this project.  From the photos it really looks to be an injection molding. Top notch finish!

Perhaps not a lot of progress but the basis for the Engine looks great!

Thanks to you, Tim and Rick!  I finally got to work on this little guy.  I hope to spend some time on it this holiday weekend!

I started adding some engine details but there is more to come.  All is per the kit except I used stretched sprue for the exhausts.  I tried rolling those from paper as was called for, but they were tiny and delaminated so I went for the easy way...

More soon,
Dan

Amazing work, thanks for demonstrating the heights you can take a paper kit! Steve Perry--who talked me into signing up for this Forum back in 2019--did his best to get me into paper modeling before he went West, and sent me a couple of kits among his many other kindnesses. But my output is so slow that I didn't want to go off on any more tangents... :-\

Thanks Dave and Rick!  Give one of these a go, Dave.  You may find it to be a fun medium to use.

I made the valve springs from thin wire wrapped around a piece of piano wire and then cut to length and glued in place.  They will be painted soon.  Then I started to try and make the rocker arms including a piece of brass rod that can go through each and look good on the engine.  Miraculously, it seems that it may work.

Stay tuned...Dan

Thanks you two...getting much closer now!

Installed all those rocker arms on their springs and then added and painted the pushrods.  The rockers are all slightly different in angle and I think it looks like the variation in valve position.

At least that's what I'm pretending... ::)

Overall, good enough for the girls we date.  Next will be the plugs, wires and carbs.  Almost done!

Very good progress! Pity that nobody will notice the rocker arms on the finished model.

You are so right, Joe!  I guess it's the old "I'll know they are there" argument.  Plus, it's kind of fun.

A tad more tonight. The parts for the carbs are shown and I added the spark plug wires to the mags and to the cylinders on one side. Need a break before doing the other side. Should have put these in BEFORE I added the piston rods and carbs. Well...maybe on my next Hiero engine!

Thanks for looking,
Dan

That is some impressive wiring and detailing Dan! The valve lifters are impressive also!

Much appreciated, Rick!

I finished the beast tonight by adding the manifolds out of fuse wire and one last "copper" pipe on top that will plumb into the radiator when that gets built. Things are not perfect...like the manifolds going into the cylinders between the rocker arms...but the geometry of the kit parts didn't really lend itself to perfection.  That's ok as the overall impression is nice.

I think I'll mount it tomorrow and then the next hurdle will be the wings. Holy cow...

More soon,
Dan
