Lance, after a holiday (hiking in Austria) I look the first time into the forum and found your new project!
Of course I will follow this journey after the nice start :-*

Have fun!

Cheers,
Frank

With the exception of the magnetos and their wires I decided to call the engine complete at this stage; the extra plumbing I had intended to add next would be completely hidden from view as I intend to display the model with all of the engine cowlings in place.

The plug wires were done with .10 mm lead wire and the air intake manifolds, oil tank, and crankcase oil filler pipe added. The engine was given a light wash of AK Interactive Engine Wash and also some of their Engine Oil. I hope to add the magnetos today and then I can put it aside and start on the cockpit assemblies.
Cheers,
Lance

You're moving right along on this Lance.  Engine looks good.  Yes, adding all the other goodies will all disappear once you button it all up. What you have will display nicely.

A nice start and a promising build. I like the engine made this way.

Thanks Mark and Giuseppe, It's always a pleasure to get comments like these. I've had a heck of a day and too many interruptions to make any further progress, but there's always tomorrow! :)
Cheers,
Lance

That engine looks super Lance: what a pity to hide it behind the cowling. Could you not leave one side off?

Stephen.

Stephen, Manni,
Thank you both for your comments. I may leave the left side open depending on how the "fit" of that part works out however if so I'll have to make several additions to the engine.
Cheers,
Lance

Your ‘not so slim’ fingers have done a good job Lance!

I always struggle with the ignition leads. Can I ask what wire you use and what you use to glue them?

Lance
You got me going here. I built a 1:48 Blue Max LVG C.VI ten or so years ago. It is arguably the best plastic model I ever built. Certainly the most enjoyable. Loved the airplane and loved the kit. Seeing what you have done with your LVG so far, I thought maybe I'd have another go this time in 1:32. Then I see it is out of print. Bummer. Then I see it is still available in a Duelist kit with a Camel. I guess you really got to  me since I just pulled the ole digital trigger on it. So if you get any wild e-mails or an angry lady on the phone, you'll know I got caught and threw you under the bus :-) It will be a while before I start it, but I couldn't start it if I didn't have it.

Beautiful detailing Lance. This is shaping up as a super build. I like the subtle engine oil effects.

cheers

sp,
Glad I could help!!  It would appear that your self control and discipline when it comes to this hobby is as finely tuned as mine.........!? ::) In the interim you hopefully won't mind if I use you as an excuse for my own situation, as my "present wife" rolls her eyes at the Stash shelf here next time ....... it's madness I tells ya!! And by the way, your logic regarding "starting vs. having" is sheer genius!

Dave, Thanks for looking and for the nice comment!
Cheers,
Lance

Magnetos are on, decal added to front cylinder, and until I looked at the "brutal" Macro photos I thought the touch ups were complete. I'll have to take a few minutes and touch up some of the black components later. For now I'm starting on the cockpits.
Here's a couple of shots of the engine as it rests today:
