WnW Jeannin Stahltaube
« on: May 12, 2018, 06:59:50 AM »
I picked this kit up along with the J.1 at the Wingnut Wings Scale Model Expo stand last month. There is something quite beautiful about this ungainly looking plane and after deciding to put any fears of that rigging to one side, have pulled this out of the stash for my next build.

Planning on using some HGW belts, Uschi woodgrain and Aviattic decals and probably some Gaspatch turnbuckles where appropriate.

Will be making a start shortly, so stay tuned....

Welcome along chaps. Hope you enjoy the ride  :D

Okay, first step is the cockpit floor. Started by spraying the rear section gloss white (pre shading with Tamiya Smoke), masked off the frame and sprayed that light green and used Aviattic's CDL clear decal. Ezi-Line was then used for the bracing wires....

Front section is again painted white. This time I pre-shaded the section with clear orange and a little smoke. Then I used some Uschi wood grain decals with plenty of micro sol to help them sit snugly over all teh detail....

Set aside overnight now to fully dry.

Very nice indeed!  Those wood grain decals are awesome!
There are only two states to be in:  Queensland and blotto.

Hi Gary
It already looks really great! Man you are faster than Ben Lam (Kiwi reference from a Hurricanes fan)! I struggle to do half of what you do in ten times the time. I look forward to more updates.

Cheers,
Alistair

Thanks guys.

Couple of steps forward. Uschi woodgrain decals applied over white basecoat tinted with clear orange. Ezi-line for rigging and control cables. Fuel filter is replaced with a scratchbuilt glass tube made from heat stretched sytrene and replacement cable on the tacho...

Wow, what a lot of rigging inside the fuselage! Wasn't aware of that before.
