Juan, David, Stephen, and Steve,
Thank you so much for your very positive comments! In the end no matter what smoke and Mirrors detail I have added I really like the closed cowl and sleek look of the Albatros. So.... it will be covered  :o

So here are two tales. Believe the one you want to  8)
1. I decided to open the cowlings because several of my peers here commented that it was a shame to cover up the detail on the engine and bay.  8)
2. I attached the cowl /cockpit covering as planned and even after the spreader was added and a butt load of sanding I did not get a fit I was satisfied with so I removed the metal portion of the engine cover and will leave off the panels  >:(

 Rick,
Outstanding works my old friend. Absolutely looking forward to more. Mind if I borrow a few ideas from you for my own D.III collecting dust in the stash?

PS: Leaving off the panels means I have to go back and do some tricky painting to a few things that would not have been seen with the covers on. Lesson Learned don't skip anything as you never know what will happen  ::)

Nice to see this update, and thanks for deciding what to ask for "Sinterklaas" this year...  ;D ;D The Roden D.III (not this OAW version) with some Eduard PE! :)

Look forward to the next installment!

I hope, too! There are so many cool schemes to choose from, and the Eduard set allows an off-center radiator, making even more schemes possible...! Got a DVII to do, first... ;)

Back on this one after finishing the Fokker EV. I have attached the lower wing, and revised rudder,  and drilled the rigging holes. Of course this one may lose out to the WNW Dolphin in the near future  ::)

I have also begun to put the base coat for the wood grain around the engine and cockpit area.
