Good grief! So that is what they call "ubermasking"!  Brilliant, if
somewhat tedious work Paolo.  Amazing!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Paolo:

I think I would be driven mad by now.  You are doing a fantastic job here and I am excited to see how these turn out.  The triangle masks on the leading edge is a great idea, albeit a bit tedious, but will pay you dividends when finished.  I like your sample streaking too.  Gives me ideas for my next one.  You have an audience and their attention.  You must continue on.  Keep the faith!  ;)

Best

I am continuing to be impressed not only by the quantity but the quality of your builds! I said before that I have at least one more DR1 build planned and you are showing me many ideas for improving the basic construction and painting of this kit!

not as I do!
and today I went from humming to exultation: enough to preliminary! the next session will be of substance, finally!
9492

here we are. upside,
9501

and downside.
9502

well, maybe not the next, there was some damage ...
9503
9504

but thank goodness it's ended the moment "assembly line". models can now continue as individual elements.
9505

..to be continued... ;)

thank you all for the attention and the help!

hem, about help.. ::)

before starting with black and white, a doubt arise: the white it's relatively easy to comply with (and moreover I just did it on albatros) but, the black??

here some trials, before mess it all on the kits. I prepared a preshaded base,
9549

and tried three blacks: black plus sunny skin tone 1:3; b+sst 1:1; pure black.
9550

9551

the first mixture erase totally the preshading, ironically, it works better (or less worst) with black-black... but how to achieve the shaded effect on these parts of the planes?!?

speaking about airbrushing... have a look inside the cup of this iwata?
9547

it has an year, more or less. cleaning it with aggressive cleaner ablazed away the chrome in the low part of it! :o

Blacks:I wouldn't change anything with your approach. Ambient occlusion (which is what people are really doing when they are "pre-shading") is less apparent the darker the base color.

Airbrush: that's pretty normal. But it should remind you to wear respirator etc! ;D

ok... so I'll go ahead...

tonight just a little upgrading, tomorrow early wake up, and the white bottle decided to end her life on the floor...  :( :( :( :( :(
9656

9657

about the respirator, when I realized how strong is this product, I switched from the paper masks to this one... heavy, but far better!
9348

and it has a nice bonus: when I answer to the phone, I do a reasonable effect "darth vader"!!! ;D ;D ;D

'night, p. ;)

The "dark side" is pretty well lit, Darth...er... Paolo. ;)  Happy to see you are
taking care of your lungs.  Good on you, my friend.

aaaaah... after another session of extreme masking, I really began to loose my faith...

http://youtu.be/11Ee02WLxGk

and here we are. a pair of men dressed in white are knocking at my door, demanding to get me dressed with a shirt with sleeves fastened behind. fun.
but in the meantime I managed to get something.

mmmmhhh... not so black, maybe.
9569

but at least it's possible to see something of the preshading... I think.
9571
9572

and the important it's the contrast with the white... hey, on skin seems black-black!
9573

strangely, I feel sick, looking at this...
9578

and this is the kempf's tail...
9580

good enough? well....
0648

cheers, p. ;)
