Simply gorgeous, Rick!  The preshading and the yellow are masterfully done.
Cheers,
Bud
Hi Rick,

Since I looked at the overpainted lozenge of Bud and yourself, I new world opened for me. Fantastic work. Your artists all the way!

Kind regards

Patrick

Thank you Patrick, whenever I am mentioned in the same sentence with Bud I consider it  HIGH praise indeed!

Absolutely wonderful paint job.

The lozenge under the yellow paint making some diferent tones gives it a fantastic look Rick.

Very nice indeed.

Cheers

Hi, Rick,

Super work on this project, my friend! And I certainly appreciate your comments on the interior lozenge from Aviattic. I plan to purchase loz from them for my DVII when I'm at the UK Nats late next week, and I certainly am happy to hear that you had such good results with them!  8)

Thanks Gary! The Lozenge was indeed very easy to work with. I am expecting the Aviattic Lozenge for my wings soon! Have fun at the Nats!

Thanks Bud, I appreciate your comments greatly. Following your build is pushing me to try different techniques and is raising the bar for my build  ;D

Thanks Zabu,
It was difficult choosing WHEN to stop painting! I think I got the overpaint right where I wanted it in the end....

RAGIII,
Your over spray is perfect; finding the "just right" degree of overspray without losing the under finish is a delicate task, you've really aced it!

  Rick,
I believe your over spray of the lozenge is as close to perfection as you can get. Well Done my old friend. Your right about that knowing WHEN to quit painting thing. Whenever I've tried for the same affect in the past I never came anywhere close as you have.Looking forward to more outstanding updates .

Gregory, Always great to get compliments and approval from you my old friend! It is kind of ironic when I think about where the Hobby has gone over the last few years. A VERY TALENTED WW1 MODELERS Listee, Shane Weir, did this scheme soon after Rodens original release of the DVII. At a contest in Australia he was told that he should have used a different yellow as the yellow artist oils he used were too  translucent!  :-X

Well typical of the Paint Nazi mentality, and probably by a fellow who knows even less than a snail about WWI to boot.

Looks really good to me !!!

The paint I can only describe as wonderful, Rick.  I almost had to strain to
see the lozenge underneath, but yep, it's there alright. ;) ;D  I would think
in the flesh it would look even better, if that is possible.  If, whenever I try
a technique such as this I do half as well as you have, I will be ecstatic!
Thank you my friend for sharing this beauty.  I look forward to the next phase.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

I have built the Spandaus, glued them on and added the crosses. Having sudden unexpected Camera problems so the pics aren't quite what I want: Also Experimenting with Aviattic 5 color Lozenge on an Albie wing while waiting for my DVII Lozenge. I used artists oils burnt sienna along the ribs, rubbed it into the surface then applied the decals. Any suggestions appreciated.

Posting this because I don't know what is going on with my camera. I get clear photos but no color intensity?

RAGIII

PS: I decided to add this one because it actually looks fairly good.

Looks absolutely lovely, RAGIII -

Your yellow shading looks spot on and looks sharp with some decals on.   Getting closer to the finishing line?

She's looking absolutely gorgeous Rick, the yellow colour is superb and with just a hint of the lozenge showing through is brilliant, this is shaping up to be a real show stopper.

Hi Rick,

Looks really marvellous. I took the liberty (just to help) trying to change a bit your contrast, but as your picture is already jpeg, can't change too much on it. Are you shure you didn't change your settings on your camera? Or have you meanwhile solved your problem? So I can't help.

Kind regards
Patrick
