Thanks a lot, Tim!  The wings will hopefully all line up enough to complete the illusion!

I got the left top panel done and you can see the general positions where all will end up.  I think it will be really important to get the bottom wing on solid so it, along with the struts, will help set that top wing.  It's a big bird!

The plot thickens...Dan

Thanks again, Rick.   Coming along slowly but surely...

I got one of the bottom wings sans tip and floats done and then used the kit jig to see if things have a hope of lining up.  Actually looks pretty good.  The top wing won't droop and the wings seem to have the correct stagger and are square.

Perhaps miracles do occur in paper modeling!

More soon...Dan

This is an amazing build Dan!  Seems an order of magnitude more complex than your prior builds, but you are handling it all with apparent ease.  Way to go!  Gives me encouragement to try one of these paper flying boats some day.😊

Best regards,

Bob

Howdy, Bob.  It's a really well designed kit with only a few labeling errors etc.  All I need to do now is get a couple of wing struts in there and it will slowly become much more stable!

Tonight I got the other lower wing panel done and added wing tips to both.  It's mocked up again just to see how things will look...approximately!

More soon (I hope)...Dan

Looking stellar Dan. I’m wondering if those beer kegs under the lower wings were full or empty? Lol.

DEFINITELY full.  I think I'll need all the help in the world to get those wings on.  We'll see!

I think I'll delay a bit and make the wing tip floats today.  Relax!

Thanks, Rick...

I was emboldened by a chocolate snack and decided to give the top wing a whirl.  It worked!  On and straight.  Now I think it will be easier to do some basic rigging and strut placement now that there is a solid place to begin attaching things.

Maybe floats tonight!  For now, I'm chuffed.

I'm glad, Tim...it's just taken patience and has really gone together very well indeed.  Still, a HUGE step!  :P  You are right.

Taking a break from actually adding the bottom wing and starting those struts, I decided to make the wing tip floats.  Went on pretty easily and look cool too.  I'm not sure exactly where the bottom long strut goes.  Or rather, where it attaches to the lower wing.  Looking at the plans, it seems like the most logical place would be where I placed it at a wing strut location and this is the length of wire called for on the plans.  However, unlike all the other locations, there are no indications of attachment points on the paper.  Looks fine but I also just looked at shots of the real machine in Italy and it seems that strut is completely different!  Oh, well...

I'll attempt the bottom wing and some struts this weekend.  Wish me luck...Dan

Still amazed at this build, Dan. She's a beauty, I've always had a weakness for Great War-vintage flying boats...
