Thank you very much, Rick! Even if my "upholstering" is crude it's better than a bare seat!

The next tasks are the aforementioned "early" fuselage side mods, painting and rigging the cockpit walls, and making some seatbelts.

Yes, with this interior it starts to look like a SPAD!

Cheers,

Looking nice!
Having tried to, ehh, sculpt seatbacks and cushions for my 1/32 A-6A I know how difficult that is! Looks nice and really adds a personal touch as well. :)

Thank you both for your kind words!

While plasticine may not be the ideal material due to its softness I'm pleased with the result. It does the job and will have belts draped over it anyway!

Speaking of which, I really need to get started on those...

And I did! I spent this morning with some wine cork foil, stretched sprue, one circular bit from my spares and some superglue, and - using the Memorial Flight's example as a prototype - am pleased with the results!

The fuselage framing and prop have received some woodgrain, the former needs some touchups but here's the latter:

Great progress, Zac -

Really good work on your seat harness!

Great work on the belts Zac. The prop is also very well done. Your SPAD is looking excellent!

Thank you both! My wife was very impressed with the belts, she's in awe of some of the detail work I get up to. I'm very pleased the work paid off.

I need to do another pass on the prop as I see in the photo a blank area on one leading edge, but I expect I'll be glossing it today after checking I don't need to paint any reinforcing strips.

The seat cushion and other details are simply wonderful Zac. I have frequently wondered about how to make a cushion for my larger models - did not think of plasticine!

Another first class model in the making here.

Stephen.

Thank you Stephen, as I've said previously your praise makes me feel very grateful and humble. As for the Plasticine, it was just sitting there doing nothing so I figured why not?  ;D

I actually had some work this week, and sadly a funeral yesterday, so my bench time has been cut somewhat. However there has been progress on the SPAD - after doing woodgrain on the cockpit formers and stringers I made a mess of cleaning up the CDL areas, so I decided to try Humbrol Maskol in the affected areas:

Some touchups are required but for a first attempt I think it went well! Now to tackle the panel on the port side that RAGIII identified as being a (late) version part.

Airbrushing the integrated side structure is always a pain. I have never used maskol for it, I prefer to cut the masks, tedious job but works better for me. You have done a fine job, I am sure some touch ups will bring it all to glory.

Thank you Prze. An airbrush is on my wishlist and has been for many a year, but for now a good old-fashioned "hairy stick" does the job well  ;)

A little touch up and perhaps a wash around the edges and you will be all set Zac. NIce to see you progressing.
