Just another note on the Green Stuff putty, as I mentioned, you can thin it considerably with water.  As such, you can also paint it with a fine brush into cracks and gaps as an alternative to using a syringe.

See this video for a demonstration of thinning with water and painting it into gaps  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD0e9N97auc

The drying time is reasonable fast though depending on temperature and humidity.  Once set, I don't think it can be reconstituted with water...but I haven't tried it.  It can be sanded very easily though, more so than Tamiya Extra Fine white in my experience.

Progress is progress , Hmmmm I seem to have heard that somewhere before , now where was that ......
;D ;D

Thank you! It's the same kind of work but fixed hours, which will be a real boon to our situation. However we are dependent on the weather and it's looking awfully grey and wet in the predawn darkness...

Thanks to a forumite (I don't wish to embarrass them) I have masks to replace the sub-par kit decals, however at the moment this kit is on the backburner while I source paint. I'm excited to continue but I need to get my affairs in order and sort out some paint - fear not, this SPAD will return!

Roden 1/32 SPAD XIII c.1 (early) by Zac Yates, on Flickr

Unfortunately my local shop was out of XF-59 so I'm hoping I can find some elsewhere...and need to pick up the XF-65 I forgot! But my goodness it feels good to be putting paint on this!

Looking good Zac! I love how the SPAD looks, In any colors! I hope you find the missing color soon.

Thank you folks! It's great to get the paint on, and to watch it hide some sins ;D

Thank you Dave, it turns out our other local shop (which I keep forgetting exists) had them both. Victory!

Unfortunately paint has revealed some less-than-awesome putty work so I'm going to tackle that - all my own doing as I was in such a rush to build the kit. Stay tuned!
