Hello,
First of all I have to apologize for the long delay of this report.
I have had weeks with really a lot of work so I didn'd found the mood to write any reports, sorry...
...but now I have more time and so this report will be continued now
Of course I also want to thank you all for your very kind comments, they meant a lot to me.
In the last parts of this building-report I prepared most of the bigger parts of the plane. So I could start to assemble them.
I started with the undercarriage, the design of this kit is so good that it was really easy going...everything fitted perfectly.
Next I went to the tail section, here I assembled both tailplanes and the elevators and also the rudder and the small struts between the tailplanes. Again everything fits perfectly so that the whole step was done in less than an hour...oh how I love WNW
I had a flow...so I hurried to the cabane struts, and glued the middle section of the top-wing on them.
Now I was satisfied for that day and gave the glue the time to harden through overnight.
Here are some pictures that I made at the end of that step:
As you can see on the pictures I also assembled the turnbuckles on all those parts before glueing them together, I forgot to mention that before.
Then again, it was time for some small parts so I started to work on the observers armament.
The ring is good designed so I just added two steel-springs and one handle, both made of thin wire. I dont even had to drill the holes for the handle for they are already in the molding, so all I had to do was bending a piece of wire and glue it in
The painting was fun and so I took some time for it and added some wear to the edges of the ring. All of this wear is just brush-painted with Vallejo-Metal Color.
I prefer painting the wear instead of using any chipping-fluid (hairspray, masking-fluid, chipping-products...), I have much better control with the brush than I would have with rubbing away the paint over a chipping-fluid. Besides that it is a lot more faster
The Parabellum LMG14 I basecoated with Tamiya X18 (a little bit thinned down). Then I used metal-pigment (Uschi van der Rosten Iron-Pigment) to give it some metal-appearance. For the small parts I used Vallejo Colors.
Thats all for now, thank you for reading this
...next part will be the Propeller...
Have a nice time,
Michael
