Have fun building this Rick. I think the SE5 is a real beautiful plane. Like Richie said, nothing wrong with some filling and sanding. I 5hink in the end no one can tell the difference.

Nothing wrong with a bit of filling and sanding. Is the kit Roden plastic with resin and etch additions? It looks familiar.

Richie

Yes, Richie. Roden plastic with PE frets done by Eduard, and True Details resin .
RAGIII

Following along on this one, too.  Can you show the detail on the pulleys?
I don't know how many Encore kits you've done, but would you say they significantly improve the base Roden kit?

Thanks for following Ken. Sorry it has been a while since My last update. I hope My poor photography shows enough of the detail.  I would say on this kit the Rein and PE do significantly improve the kit. I am using More of the PE than usual which says something I guess  ???

Thanks for looking in. So far I am enjoying the build  8)

Todays update:
I have used the PE bezels and dials for the IP and am OK with the results. I also used HGW lap belts slightly simplified then a wash of burnt umber applied. I also used the PE ammo drum storage boxes. The one on the floor has a CSM ammo drum installed. Finally I used stretched sprue for the control lines.

Resin and PE radiator and cover.

and it begins to come together:

You do put your kits together quickly Rick. I would not have bothered with the PE as I simply do not like the stuff, but it is certainly enhancing your model.

Very good results with the interior. I find it very challenging to use so many different parts of different manufacturers, but here the interior looks great.

Thanks Stephen. I am actually trying to slow down a bit on this one  :o As for PE, I am not fond of it either! In the case of the IP it was necessary and the boxes for the drum were simple folds!

Thanks Manni! The parts are actually provided in the kit and are designed to fit. ( Other than the seat belts)

Thanks Ken. My photo really doesn't do the pulleys their due justice. Although a lot of work to install when they are done they are at least as good as the WNW version.

Just saw this, Rick...I just finished re-reading Flying Fury so I can't wait to see this one done for ol' J.T.B.

Neat start so far.

Thanks Dan. All should go smoothly until the mounting of the upper wing. That is when I Must Be Careful  ::)

Thanks Richie and I agree re the PE and Resin.

I have made some progress. I assembled the Hisso engine OOB and painted only the basics. Not Much will be seen as the second photo will show!

RAGIII

Now for touch up filling and sanding. Adding holes for rigging, and adding a few rivets and details to the upper cowling.

Quick work Rick, all looking excellent too. The Roden engines are very good I think but as you say very little will be seen so no point in going overboard with the Hisso.

Thanks Richie. Yes, the Hisso could be detailed and would look terrific. On the SE one could easily leave off one or both engine covers to display the engine. I like MY aircraft buttoned up so like I said, No Need to super detail.
