Roden 1/32nd Scale SSW DIII: Udet Jasta 4
« on: April 20, 2021, 11:32:41 PM »
I got this kit a while back from Mark Krumrey as what basically amounted to a gift! It was lightly started and I have added a little work, very little so far! Mark had painted the interior in a Nice Dark wood pattern. Since I really have No Hope of Matching it I will have to strip and re do the interior wood. I also picked up the Bren Gun PE of which I will use only some! This will be a slow build with lots of questions asked as I have Almost No SSW DIII reference  :( I have bookmarked a few of the former builds and will use them as needed.

PS: I also need to order the Aviattic Lozenge for this one  8)

Great project Rick, and my favorite Roden Kit. That Bren Gun PE Set is an outstanding product, the lower cowling with all of the cooling louvers is worth the price alone but yes, some of the parts on the sheet are best left where they are! I have the Data File as a main Ref so if you have questions just ask.
I liked this Kit so much I have a second with the Bren Gun Set tucked away for an "encore" later!
Cheers,
Lance

Good project, Rick -

I've built in the past and from what I remember the lower wing to fuselage was very poor so need a bit work to get on.   Other than I think alright and the lozenge decals are actually not too bad to work with in this Roden kit.

I shall follow with interest.

Regards

Dave

Nice, I'll follow along Rick. I really like this aircraft, have you picked a scheme yet?

Not a type (or kit) with which I am very familiar Rick, but I have seen DaveB's model and it looked very good to me. I am sure that you too will make a gem from it so I will follow along and watch.

Oh, Rick is building a Siemens-Schuckert! I'm watching of course 8)
In my build report (of the smaller Eduard bird) I have color pictures of the real engine and the impressively huge four blade "Wotan" airscrew on a wall at the "Deutsches Museum" Munich.

Good luck and huge fun!

I would love to see the photos Frank although I can almost guarantee that My 1/32nd version will not equal your smaller scale build  8)
