Thanks Alexis. The wings are not glued in place so yes, probably off center  ::)

These are looking really fine Rick.

Alexis is right: you really do move quickly with building your kits. Like Ed, I am retired too, but although I may scratch build and therefore take longer, I still seem to suffer from periodic blocks and down times which slow me right down. You just seem to steam on regardless - and as I have already comented, the quality of your work remains very hig.

Stephen.

Thanks Stephen. I think I have mentioned that I try to spend about 3 hours daily at the bench. What gets done in that time can vary. I am nearing the difficult part of this build with potential for disaster...mounting the upper wings  :o

And today I started weathering. The first up is the Lafayette SPAD. I used oils to give some variation and depth to the scheme. Yellow Ochre, burnt sienna, and some black on the louvers.

These are looking really good - the oils really help to bring out some variation on the cdl

Thanks. I was hoping for a break in the CDL appearance and I appreciate your comments!

Subtly realistic, Rick.  I like how you've toned down the white on the roundels.

Wow, Rick!  You have managed a very realistic and varied finish on that sucker.  It has depth and delicate changes in tones.  You made a potentially dull/boring finish into an interesting gobsmacking one.  Just lovely...

Very effective use of oils!
