True confessions from the isolation work bench! This is what happens when you get interrupted and forget to reduce the tack of your masking tape:

....... and here's the after repair view:

The culprit "Canine Interuptus" is suitably contrite and I've forgiven him until next time.

I've only been in self isolation for three weeks now and am the first to admit I may be losing it!! :o :o

Stay safe everyone!
Cheers,
Lance

Neat-o Lance!  I guess I've been in my own little isolated world and just stumbled upon this great build.  Really wonderful!

Thanks Dan. I believe were all discovering how our perspectives can change with the varying degrees of isolation imposed by the "new" world we find ourselves in. Some for the good, some less so however we will prevail!

Lance, Your repair is actually very well done. On an aircraft painted as many times as the original I am sure their was some mismatch somewhere. Your repaint is so close I doubt we would have noticed had you not pointed it out!

I completely agree with Rick: we all know that it  will stick out like a sore thumb to you - but anyone else would have to have it pointed out to them. Brilliant repair Lance.

Stephen.

The dog looks suitably contrite Lance! Good save though, looks perfect to me.

Oh Lance, some weeks (at least my feeling says so) ago you showed a picture of a nice little pup of German shepherd, and now he is big, THAT big ?! :o
How time flies!

Repair? Which repair? Everything looks like it belongs.

Cheers,
Frank

Richie and Frank,
Thanks, it boosts the confidence! Frank, the little German guy looks bigger then he really is, he's the typical teen ager, all legs and slim for now, especially since he's shed about 20 pounds of winter fur coat!

Lance

I believe it's time to update this Thread; the major components are now assembled and it's a Biplane! Presently I'm working on the rigging, once that's done the landing gear will be added. I really struggled with the upper wing, the problem being caused by very poorly aligned cabane struts. That factor was completely self induced as I carelessly filled their mounting points with paint and then just as carelessly deformed them cleaning off the unwanted paint. You'd think by now I'd have learned to protect such critical points with Blu Tac or something similar which I do "most times" but forgot in this case!  :(

I've got her mounted in the trusty "Magic Third Hand" for the rigging stage and it's going well. The aileron control cables in the cabane area were done with Modelkasten stretch line, the main rigging is all Maxima Chameleon 0.12mm 2 lb. mono. I'll be doing the tail component control cables with the Modelkasten.

I'm using Bob's Buckles and GasPatch 1:32 Scale metal turnbuckles for the rigging. the latter the "C" Type with my own eyelets added using nichrome wire.

The Schlasta 21 "Zebra Stripes" don't show well through the second finish in these photos but they are still there as you can discern in the shaded side view here.

I'm much looking forward to finishing this one finally, it's been a long haul and it's time for a fresh project!

Cheers,
Lance

Fantastic, Lance. This is a brilliant paint job. It’s this very color sheme that I like most next to the flamed Schlasta 26b planes. i picked up another early Halberstadt to realize this sheme, too. That’s 4 unbuild Halberstadts in my stash, which is only equaled by the number of Albatros D. Va kits I have.

I agree with Andreas - the colours look extremely good. I am also very impressed indeed with the rigging - first class Lance. I am looking forward to seeing htis one finished - it will be another winner when it is.

I like the shine through of the previous painting, this looks fantastic!
And your rigging is superb, that is a functional rigging with fishing line? I think I should also move more in that direction - I don't know, how long the rubber strings are in one piece on the model ??? And the additional strength is helpful too.

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks for the positive comments Gents. Borsos, FOUR Halberstadts?? WOW!! :o Frank, the fishing Mono adds a lot of strength to the model. I am using elastic line less as time goes on however it still has it's appropriate place in the construction.
Cheers,
Lance
