Wingnut Wings Halberstadt
« on: February 03, 2019, 05:39:40 AM »

Evening,

Here’s my entry into Des’s group build - the new Wingnut’s Halberstadt! Looks like another gem and I can’t wait to get started.

It’s having some extra’s thrown in. For starters the Gaspatch Spandau; Parabellum; Airspeed indicator; Anchor points; One end turnbuckles  :) The turnbuckles & anchor points are resin - I’m just hoping they’re strong enough for monofilament, they certainly look good!

Still to arrive is the Aviattic lozenge.

Progress soon I hope!

Regards

Guy

I’m going for this one...

I love the stippled camouflage. I just hope I can do it justice...

Hi Guy
The Halberstadt is a great looking plane. But the colour schemes terrify - looks like you have choosen one that would be a nightmare for me. Best of luck and I look forward to your progress.

Cheers

 Guy,
Another great choice and addition to the GB and Tribute. My Kit, a Christmas gift, is yet to arrive so I'll be following closely to pick up all the pointers I can. I'm really going to enjoy watching you break new ground here on the latest from Wingnuts; break a leg Sir!
Cheers,
Lance

I love the scheme you've chosen!  Sister ship to "Brünhilde".  Looking forward to this one.
Cheers,

Thanks Rick, Bud & Lance  :)

Lance - I can certainly give you some pointers on what not to do!

Well, the postman came today bearing gifts. One was a 1/18 Fw190, but one envelope bore the Aviattic stamp  ;D

Hot off the press - Halberstadt cookie-cut lozenge! Yum  :)

These are seriously lovely. Compared to Wingnut’s lozenge - it’s very grown up!

A comparison with Wingnut’s lower lozenge:

And upper surfaces:

The differences are really quite dramatic. I wish Aviattic could get a tie in with Wingnuts... I just love the linen effects.

Thanks for looking in...

Guy, I am sure, you‘ll do honor to this kit, as you did to all the other kits I know from you! Looking forward to your build!

Thanks Richard,

I’m kicking off with the cockpit as per usual. One point to note is that there is definitely more flash on the sprues than a usual WWs kit... the plastic seems different too. Possibly not the same quality? But once cleaned up, the parts seem up to the normal standards. The fit of parts so far is spot on.

I’ve finished the instrument panel...

The handles for the pumps and switches aren’t included (just fine wire used). I thought they usually supplied them as PE? Perhaps I’m remembering wrongly...

More soon as it’s continuing at a pace. I’m not rushing exactly, but once I like a kit I can’t leave it alone!

Very nice... And I do not remember a single WNW kit which would have fuel switch selectors included. Nicely scratch built, btw.

Extremely clean work! The Aviattic lozenge looks it's usual superb self, but the WNW lozenge looks better than what was previously included to my untrained eye...

Ah, I must be thinking of Eduard maybe Prze...

Thanks Jeroen, I thought it looked better too in photos, but in the flesh, it’s not a patch on Aviattic.

Brilliant start. Love the subtle texture on the dash and the switches are a great add - I may try that myself.

Cheers
