Some lovely work here Andreas! I do love your use of colour and I learn a lot all the time... Super clean, neat and realistic too! Marc

Thanks a lot, Monty and Rick!

Things are getting closer to the final assembly. I painted the struts and added the small Nieuport company decals on them.

Besides of that I added and weathered the decals.

The actual serial number of this machine is unknown and the instructions offer some possible serials that could fit. I chose one of them. The decals are thin and flexible and there were no problems using them. But one has to be careful when using decal softeners.

I gave the canvas covered parts of the machine a good shot of Gunzes dull clear that can be polished a little with a kitchen towel. Now these surfaces contrast well with the metal parts. I also painted the lower part of the windshield in wood colors as I did with the inner part for fitting the inspection pannels. these are made of wood on the real thing  ;)
I still need to paint the cockpit coaming, the bungee chord on the undercarriage and some other small items. I also need to give it a washing here and there to make some details pop out more. Then I plan to glue the whole thing together. Time for first thoughts regarding the base for this plane...
Best regards
Andreas

Superb results on that difficult aluminum finish Andreas, and the 'wash" should really take it to perfection. Beautiful results overall at this stage and the finished model promises to be spectacular, nicely done! 8) 8) 8)

I have just read through all of this Andreas because there is so much to leaarn and admire. The finish that you achieve on your models is always just right - clear but not artiificially so, the parts look just like the materials they are supposed to represent. I know that the base which you will construct will also look just the part - am looking forward to seeing it.

Stephen.

Andreas, this will be again a great model from your bench, still with your personal style.
Hope to see it in Fürstenfeldbruck soon!

I really like the small Nieuport stickers, again a detail, which I do not have on my little Flyboys machine.

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you very much Edo, Lance, Stephen, Frank and Juan!

There’s something I didn’t like on my model so far:

It should have been puttied and sanded down. I didn’t do it due to ... laziness  :)
But I knew I always would look at the model and think „why haven’t I fixed that!?“
Here it is now. Puttied, sanded down and repainted. I feel much better now.

Best regards
Andreas

I know that feeling, and I can fully understand, that you fixed it. In a perfect way!

Lovely weathering and I am glad you made yourself more satisfied by filling and sanding the seam that was bothering you  ;D

Great weathering, it really changed your Nieuport's look. Very realistic.

Frank, Rick, Steve and Giuseppe,
Thank you very much for your kind words!

Some more progress... engine, Vickers, undercarriage, engine cover...

And now it’s a biplane. The rigging is one of the simplest and fastest of all WWI planes I think. Attaching the top wing went like a charm. It was the first time i installed all anchor points for the rigging before attaching the top wing, which was problemfree.

Some touch uos here and there and some minor details are still missing like the windscreen or the upper wing Lewis.
Best regards
