Hi Andreas
This is looking fantastic. I was going to ask about the blue as well but picked up your answer to Lance. Looking forward to more progress and I'm lifting the little Nieuport up my list of "what's next?".

Cheers
Alistair

It doesn’t happen very often, Rick, but here I do not agree with you!

Alistair, you won’t regret starting that one!

I‘ve spent some hours in the paint shop.

For the enduit metalisee I used Gunze‘s silver with some drops of white. The wheel hubs and undercarriage receeived a shot of Vallejos white aluminium and the cowling is painted with chrome from the same brand.
Best regards
Andreas

Were you using Gunze Aqueous or solvent based?

The finish on the cowling and other parts is soooo realistic! I could easily believe that the cowling is metal. The quality of your modelling never ceases to impress - this is no exception.

Stephen.

You have chosen terrific colors for your Nieuport. They look awesome! As a general question, what are your weathering plans. I was going to tape off and pre shade the wing ribs but I am not seeing a lot/any indication of the tapes in photos. Just curious.

Thank you very much, Captain, Stephen, Rick and Terri.

Yes, I only use aqueos, no slovent based Gunze colors.

The question about weathering is a very good one, Rick. I didn’t see any prominent tapes on b/w pictures neither nor did I on the colour pictures of the Belgian Nieuport 23 in the Datafile Special. I think I‘ll postshade with smoke as usual anyway to break a monotone colour and try to keep it very subtle. As the enduit metalisee is a solid color, I could overspray the effect with some shots of dilutet silver if the smoke should look too prominent.

Best regards

Thanks for your thoughts on the weathering. I kind of have an idea on what I want with the fuselage but the wings were/are a bit different. Might do as you plan... we shall see.

Sadly my thoughts come out of embarrassment as I have no better ideas  ::)
I am keen on seeing how you do the weathering!

Looks  very good -while visiting our local hobby shop they brought the new-ish Vallejo metal colours to my attention. That cowling does like pretty shiny, how do you like them?

Thanks Giuseppe and Jeroen!
Jeroen, as far as I can say, these new Vallejo metal colors are as good as the classic Alclad colors but without the smell... And you don’t need to paint the surface black before, any color as primer does the job. I really like them.

Thank you Steve!

I found a new home for my pictures. After many troubles with my hosting site I received an Email that it is shutting down. Obviously I wasn’t the only one who had troubles. Now I try out a German hosting site called „Abload“. Works fine at the moment...

Meanwhile I added some shadowing with Gunze Smoke to the wings and fuselage. I didn’t accentuate the rib Tapes in this case as they are barely visible on original pics. Some shots of shiny clear and the decals will follow.

Best regards
Andreas
