Thanks Stephen. The rings were easy, the tiny drilled holes to put them in were a bit of a chore alright! :o

The cockpit is complete and the fuselage is now closed up. At this point I think I'll push her to the back of the line and switch back to my AEG project.
Before closing the fuselage all of the flight control cables were added using Modelkasten elastic line.

The Vickers Gun Support frame was then added and then the cockpit module installed in the left fuselage part.

Once happy with that assembly I added the right fuselage half. It proved a tight fit as I had installed the fuselage frame cross brace wires on the outside of the side frame members. The top fuselage seam was done first, once dry the bottom was done as well. Medium CA and a bit of Thin CA was used throughout. A very small seam gap on the bottom was filled with medium CA and then sanded down flush.

Having reached this benchmark I will return to the AEG, complete the engines and frames, and then hopefully be back on this one in about two weeks. "In the beginning there was a plan............."

WOW Lance, your Cockpit looks gorgeous! I am tempted to toy with one of my Camels but am still waiting for Pheons Decals.

Thanks Rick. I hear you, this is my second Camel and I hesitated, I just know Rowan will come out with a scheme I just can't resist........ this one has black stripes but I would have preferred Alexanders "Bus" when he commanded B Flight with the royal blue stripes.Wanna bet it's on the sheet?! :o ???

Thank you Juan, your comments as always much appreciated. And thanks as well Steve, it'll only be on hold as long as it takes me to figure out the detail on 2 Mercedes D.IV's!
Cheers,
Lance

I really like how this looks. I'm especially impressed with the seat. Your choice of paint for the wicker work, really makes it look like dried reeds. Very classy.

It's looking mighty fine Lance.  I agree, you have nicely captrued the look of wicker on the seat.  The seat belts are pretty cool as well, a good place to stop and put it away for a bit.

Great progress on your Camel, Lance! I also love the wicker seat and the seat belts and I am keen on seeing you back on your AEG!

Very nice Lance!

Cockpit is very sharp. You have a different effect to usual on the lap belts? Looks good, certainly adds further interesting detail.

Thoroughly enjoying following your progress on Camel 2.

A shall now alternate to the AEG channel.  :)

cheers

Thanks All for your comments. :)
The "wicker" color is done with Model Master Enamel "Afrika Braun" #2102 (I don't know if they still make it?) as a base and a wash of their Raw Sienna. Boggie, the belt "stippled" look resulted from the "rolling the part between two fingers" as directed in the HGW Instructions; I over did it and the paint finish wore off to produce that effect!

Lance

Hahaha. ;D.  The effect was an accident?  ::)

Looks like scuffed leather to me. I like it!  8)

I would be happy if my "accidents" turned out half as neat!

It was indeed an accidental discovery. In real life up close the effect is much more graphic and I think I'll tone it down with a wash of light brown or tan. I've never had this happen with these belts before and usually use a diluted coat of brown or tan and buff to give them a more used look.
Cheers,
Lance

Oh, I missed this fantastic build...
Holy Smoke, Lance!
Exactly! You are doing a great job on this Camel (as on all your models).
