Rick,
"what started it all: stretched sprue. Super!"
Gary has said it well! Brilliant and really nice results. Nice to see a "back to the basics" approach and yes, that blue is superb!
Cheers,
Lance

Hi, Rick,

Excellent work, and I do love it when someone turns the clock back through EZ-Line, fishing line, Modelkasten and other such-like rigging items and settles on what started it all: stretched sprue. Super! And I am curious as to how you form turnbuckles out of white glue. Inquiring minds need to know, and your secret will be safe with me! 8)

Thanks for the compliment Gary. It actually is not unusual for me to use sprue in situations like this. Saved a heck of a lot of drilling and for what can be seen is just as effective. IMHO  8)  As for the turnbuckles just blobs of glue and paint If done carefully it looks fairly effective. Another Old School technique. You can just make out some in this Pfalz Photo

Beautiful work, Amigo, and the stretched sprue looks fantastic!
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks Amigo. Looking at the photos I did notice one wire that was not secured properly. Now fixed.

Steve,
In the end I had to come up with a solution that would darken and give a more weathered/hand painted look. So...I thinned a Valejo blue that was darker and close to the Decal roundel color I brushed it on leaving a hint of the original blue showing through in places With some Oil stains I think I will be quite happy with the results

Definitely some tonal variations starting to happen , or is that it?
Dare I say some light blue drybrushing...?
This is why I'm interested to see where you will go with it.
