Now that the F.K.8 is finished, it's time to shift my focus back to this one and wrap it up.
Building her pretty much oob, I chose to use the kit engine (is there even an after market Le Rhone?).  Looking at the photos, it looks kinda clunky compared to many of the resin engines that are available in 1/48 scale.  I can live with it.  After all, the cowling covers most of it.

Cheers,
Bud

I am not sure how I have missed this Bud so I have caught up: this is one of the most striking schemes that I have seen in a long time! The engine looks really good - well up to your usual standard.

With reference to engines I thought that there was a le Rhone in 1/48 by Small Stuff. Not sure - need to check. I certainly have one in 1/72 and used one on the Caudron G IV.

Stephen.

Thanks, Stephen and Frank!  Oh, yeah, I'm well aware of Small Stuff's superb 1/48 scale engines.  I have several in my stash.  I just wasn't sure if there was a Le Rhone in 1/32 scale.  Not that it matters, as I wanted to build this as oob as possible.  The only additions will be nav lights and Holt flare brackets and they're WNW parts anyway.
Cheers,
Bud

looking good! I like the roughed-up look of the front cover, makes it look like an engine that's seen a lot of use!

I used 0.1 mm nickel silver rod from Albion Alloys, Dave.  Very fine, almost too fine, and relatively rigid.

Cheers,
Bud

The kit supplied Vickers is a bit lacking in front end detail, so I decided to use a Gaspatch gun.  The problem with that is, I thought I had one in my stash, but apparently don't.  Having one sent from Greece would take too long, so again, I went with the kit part.  Couldn't bear the thought of looking into the business end and seeing a flat wall so I did some minor surgery.

Not quite up to Gaspatch standards, but close, I think.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks for the information about the albion alloy rod for spark plug wires.  The Vickers looks great.  I'm not familiar with the gaspatch guns, but with your modification, the kit gun looks awesome - not sure why you would want to upgrade further.

Thanks, Dave.  Here is what the Gaspatch Vickers looks like.

Very realistic looking.  I used one on my Tripe.
