Is progress progressing? Yes. Did I mix up the front and rear interplane struts on the port side despite having thought I'd been careful? Also yes.

...... but why have you painted a nun as pilot for the red sprue model (Dr.I, Alb?) underneath?

Excellent Start to the rigging Zac. I am not sure yet but I think I may have done something similar to the Interplane Struts on the McCudden SE

Figure painting is not my forte! It's the beginnings of a friend who made his WW1 display debut in a Dr.I replica last year, I'm working on a diorama of his display dogfighting a Sopwith Triplane replica. Still need to track down a kit for the Tripehound but the Revell Dr.I is progressing nicely.

That helps me feel better, Rick - nice to know I'm not alone in making such a silly mistake! At least it didn't interfere at all with the fit.

I ended up doing a lot of rigging last weekend and into last night, long past sunset in fact! For those concerned at glue blotches or nasty tags - don't worry, touch-ups will follow as and where appropriate (bearing in mind my paint-matching issue). I think I'll try the double wires but am not worried if I can't get it done - this is essentially Big Rigging 101 for me rather than aiming for perfection.

Today is Anzac Day and in a couple of hours the Air Force Heritage Flight of New Zealand (Facebook link) will be doing a flypast with my locally-based Spitfire IX and Grumman Avenger along with a pair of serving T-6C Texan IIs - it'll be nice to have some real aeroplanes to look at and hear, even if for just a few minutes.

I have not dropped by for a while Zac: the rigging looks fine to me - despite the problems. Double wires are the bain of any serious WW1 modeller - but most non WW1 modellers do not know about them so I would not be too concerned if you leave them as singles!

It's not pretty, and there were weird issues with the same tube of CA taking different times to dry, and some fogging on the paint (see: previous paint match issues) which have been a bit demoralising, but the Pup is rigged!

In hindsight I should've picked up a cheap Academy 1/32 biplane to rig in preparation for this kit (sent as a gift by a good friend before WNW's demise), but I've made this bed and shall lie in it. Good experience for future models

Next step will be to mount the engine and cowl (some fine trimming required of one cabane strut's base) and then the wing roundels. I'll leave painting the rigging and the touchups around same for last.
