I decided to install the HGW Seatbelts before moving on to the engine. As always a "fiddly" job getting them assembled but well worth it in the end. Once assembled they were given a thin wash of mid brown enamel.

They fitted very nicely. The forward frame was completed as well for the engine mounts and is shown here dry fitted at this point. The fuel tank and magazine assembly will be added when the engine is installed. I see I have a small blob of brown to touch up on the frame, great little helper this Machro camera setting!

Now it's engine building time; as I mentioned earlier the detailing will be limited to the upper portion that will be visible with the cowlings all installed.
Cheers,
Lance

Well done, Lance.  The cockpit looks terrific.  Yet another kit that has suddenly become more interesting to me....  :)

Nice Lance. I pulled mine out to look at it but put it back until others are done. Have this book marked though for future ref.

Lance,

This is looking great.

I really like the HGW belts too, although they require a bit of care to assemble due to the tiny parts and tolerances involved.

Keep up the good work- I wil be interested to see how the lozenge wings work out and the rib tapes.

I was hoping Aviattic were going to release a tailored set at some point.....guess we will wait and see?

Outstanding work, as usual, Lance!  Thanks for the tip on the interior scribing.  I will be using it when I start mine.  The seat belts look fantastic, by the way.
Cheers,
Bud

James, Dave & Bud,
   Thanks for looking and commenting.
Dave, as I said earlier I prefer the straight bolt type of lozenge applications to the "Cookie Cutter" type however I do have the latter for the Roland D.VI and will be trying it out again soon. Maybe the tailored approach will work better with more experience.
Cheers,
Lance

Excellent work on the interior Lance, I especially like the treatment you gave the seat belts, very realistic.

Excellent interior Lance. The seatbelts are certainly a convincing addition!

Thanks very much, Des and Rick.
I really like the HGW Belts but, unlike this set, much prefer the Laser Cut ones as they don't develop the slight "fuzz" these do when crumpled and rolled to soften them.

I've finally made a little progress on this Build so it's time for another update.
The top of the engine has been completed and the fuselage finally closed up, shown here with the completed lower wing "dry" mounted. The only gap in the fuselage halves was the small one visible immediately behind the cockpit opening. I'll be filling and sanding that, the final touch being the addition of "Bob's Strippers" along the spine and belly longitudinal seams per the original finish.

The wings, ailerons, and elevators were pre-shaded with a medium grey over the foundation coats of gloss white (Tamiya X-2) followed by the Aviattic 5 Colour top and bottom Lozenge. Rib Tapes were hand cut from Aviattic's 5 Colour White backed stock. The wings are now complete with the exception of their final satin top coat.

I see I should have dusted the wings before the photos, please excuse my sloppiness!!

The wing access door panels were done with green decal material from the spare lozenge patching portions on the Wingnut Wings Kit Decal Sheets:

The metal wing walk was done with Bare Metal Foil, a sheet that's been sitting in my "Miscellaneous" Drawer for at least 25 years!

Next is completion of the fuselage finish after permanent mounting and filling of the bottom wing. So far a smooth but very slow Build.
Cheers,
Lance
