The Aviattic Engine is stunning. The detail is beautiful! Your work on bringing the kit engine so close to the Aviattic one is Brilliant! Both are beautifully painted and weathered!

Excellent work on both engines Lance , replacing the push rods on Rodens offering enhances the over all effect .

Many Thanks, All, for taking the time to look and comment. Replacing the pushrods proved well worth the time and effort! Next update should follow once the Post Shading is completed; two days from now hopefully......... real life considerations allowing.
Cheers,
Lance

Your work on both engines is top notch, Lance!  Either could be displayed as a stand alone model.
Cheers,

Bravo Lance!  The finished engines are just gorgeous.  Of course
the Aviattic version has much nicer detail, but you have really
enhanced the kit version as well.  Very pleasing update, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Bud, Ernie, many thanks for the kind remarks. Your eyes must be as "liberal" in their perceptions as mine! ::)
George, that's the whole point, priorities! Mine are clear, SWMBO on the other hand has some misconceptions, or at least contradictions that I ignore only at great peril! :o
Cheers All,
Lance

Thank you for the varnish info Lance. I just had a bit of a disaster with a Spitfire model, where I gave it a final coat of Tamiya Flat Base thinking it was a varnish, but as it dried and a whitish haze appeared I realized it was more of a primer!!!
Fortunately a clear coat restored things mostly and the slight haze gives quite a good scale effect - but I want to be in charge rather than trust to luck.
I'd picked up a bottle of the gloss polyurethane varnish but was a bit scared to thin it as I know how sensitive Vallejo paints are.
So, again, many thanks for the excellent answer.

Actually Sandy, it is meant to be mixed in with gloss varnish or gloss paint to make it matte or flat. If memory serves, you can get a nice matte coat by mixing 5 or 6 parts Tamiya Clear gloss to 1 part Flat base. (Experiment of course before spraying it on your model)

Ah-ha! Thank you Bo - valuable information indeed. I'd mixed it 50/50 with clear and then added thinners, I'll try again with the sort of ratios you recommend. Many thanks.
Sorry for diversion, Lance, back to your beautiful SS D.III.

Nice work on both engines, it would be a shame to hide that gorgeous Avviatic engine under the cowls after all. But what you did with the kit engine makes it shine anyway.

No apologies necessary Sandy and Bo, all good information. Thanks for the comments and to Keith as well. It's pretty clear the Aviattic Engine gets the open spot beside the aircraft, the kit version will be partially buried under that huge cowling.
Cheers,
Lance
