Very nice, Andrea! I'm always impressed with these Felixtstowe builds. I don't know how you build something so large and complicated. I have trouble finishing a single seater!

Fine progress. I see you have the same issues I had. Filling of the rear turtledeck, the nose... Masking of those openings...
Though I had a different view on those sink marks under the hull covers - some may be viewed through the waist-gunners' stations.
Are you planning a bare wood beaching troley?

Thanks to everybody for the nice comments.

About the sink marks... maybe a section would be visible form the waist stations, but once the MG are in place is very difficult. Maybe only a modeller that has allready built this would take a look to see if I was too lazy to fill the marks   :P

The beaching trolley will be painted grey, but I want to experiment with hairspray technique, so I made a bare wood base. I want a well used trolley  :)

Excellent progress Andrew!  Will you be replacing
the rudder tab with pins for strength?  I look
forward to the next updates.  Nice work, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hi!

While I'm preparing the fuselage for painting I've tried a new method to paint the clear linen surfaces.

On my FE2b I've prayed a base coat of linen paint, then I've masked all the ribs and sprayed a slighlty darkned base color to give the illusion of transparencies.
It worked well, but it was impossible to judge the the contrast between the 2 shades before removing the masking, so often I had to correct the effect overspraying some base color to tone down the contrast.

This time I've done this:
1) I sprayed a white base
2) I've masked the ribs and structure details
3) I've sprayed black paint
4) Finally I've sprayed the linen color, in light passes, to achieve the correct contrast

I'm satisfied and I think that I'll use this technique and all the wings surfaces

That is a very effective technique you used for the shading Andrew, it looks really good.

Thanks!

Just to be clear: I've not invented the technique, I've simply copied a technique I've seen used on armor models, where the model is first painted in black and white
and then light coats of color are airbrushed over until you reach the desired effect.
I thought that could be used for the canvas effect and I've tried  ;)

Hi!

I've painted the white base (tamiya white with some balck and brown to tone it down).
The I've masked for sprazing the red. Quite tricky...with only 1 picture of the real aircraft and 1 profile it was not easy  ::)

I'm looking forward to see the scheme complete  :D
