  Rizzo,
How's that lovely Camel coming along? Very impressive "printed" cowl pieces from your last update too my friend.

Well, I'm at the hardest part of the build now... carrying on without being tempted away by the new WNW kits!

I'm working on various bits all over the place on this one recently though...
My main focus is getting the tail in place soon, as it's being changed so much from the kit parts. After that I'll finish up the cockpit parts I've started on.

Here's the method I used for the prop:

Not quite enough of a curve to the leading edge though, so I may redo it. But it was fun to make so that's just fine :)

Very nice work so far, Rizzo.  That prop is spectacular.  Built just like the real thing.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello Rizzo. First of all, congratulations for your incredible craftmanship!!! - And then a question: where did you get your parts 3D printed? - I'm (sloooowly!) building a 1/8 Fokker D.VII and need most parts of the Mercedes engine to be printed. Thanks in advance.

I've got the tail in place now, and it starting to look more like a plane and less like a box :)

The kit part looks like this:

So the hinges need to be replaced (that huge U shaped thing there is one of them), the front bar should be wood, and the rear of the stabiliser needs to be raised to make it level in flight (the kit has it facing upwards)

Next I'm making a new rudder- because of the changes made so far, the kit one just won't fit. I also want to make it so that it fits correctly to the rear of the fuselage, rather than just floating next to it. And maybe I'll cover the rudder... I quite like the idea of having just a bit of colour in that area, as well as it being a nice way to mark the model as a Sopwith.

Great update on your awesome project. I like the idea of the covered rudder.

Not much progress, but I did finish the tail today, complete with covering :)

I didn't add the Sopwith text in the end, because the solartex I used has a textured finish (like real linen, but slightly overscale)... I can't see a decal settling down well on it.

This is just such a great looking modelling project. I wish I was building it too. Very nice work!

Cheers,

Chris
You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

I've been making some progress with the cockpit... This project has been much slower than I'd expected, but it feels like I'm getting somewhere with it now.

These parts are just loosely placed in position for now... I will be trying to make them fit well, once I have the guns ready to fit in between them.

Rizzo,
This project is impressive beyond words, it looks more 1:1 then 1:16! The instrument panel is spectacular, to say nothing of the overall impression. As much of a fan of the WNW Kits that I am your project here outshines them by far; stick with the Camel and save the WNW's for later!
Well done.
Cheers,
Lance
