Here is the engine, an 80 horsepower rated Le Rhône 9C

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Le_Rh%C3%B4ne_9C.jpg

first parasols had 7 cylinder Gnome engine too...

Le rhone 9c was a rotary engine; you can see (and ear) one here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atMn9s6m-j4

I have the box one and a newer nieuport engine of the same house.
here they are:

of course I will keep the newest one at the left...

I'm whiting for thr 0.3mm drills to prepare the wing ; mean while I staid in the wing.
Morane Saulnier wing have a specificity, the rib seams are protected by wooden rods as it can clearly be seen in the musée de l'air 's type H:

http://www.mincbergr.net/index.php?page=morane-saulnier-h

this system appears also in the type N:

http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escadrille/Ecoles_Avord.htm

as in the type L, wich concern us:

http://albindenis.free.fr

http://asaviateurs.pagesperso-orange.fr/sesavions.htm

I represent it with stretched plastic (plastique étiré?)

There is still work to be done, sand down, surfacer etc, but I am quite satisfied with the result...

I agree, and he posts his research too.

Xan, how do you do that little border with the insignia and photo images, etc.?

Hello , thank you for the comments!
Warren, I use Paint.net program and use layers, on for each object
(hard to explain in détails, the better is youexperiment it and tell me by PM the problem you have...)

Well it's the empennage turn.

here is the best pic I have:

the principal interest of this pic is to confirm us that it's the same system the type H abd type N; forthose one we have more information
for the type N,this 3D draw fom the "casque de cuir" website:

and for the type H this pic from the musée de l'air plane:

First of all I cut off the plastic axe to remplace it by a metalic one:

for the 4 attachments I use rest of a spitfire photoetched and cut them to give them the good form
this is the result (damned macro)

here is the final result:

the empennage is not yet fixed because I have to add the cranks.
The photetched cranks was adapted to the plastic axe. But with the new one, , I have better to rebuilt them in photoeched , making really losenge with an hole in the middle.

But gosh, no more drills! I wil have to wait the post man...
For the rudder I think the axe is where I did the red line , but I have to think more the best way to do it...

Again, gorgeous work and great research on a build that is not easy Xan. (Paint.net . . . . got it!  I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!)

As has been the case with ALL of your updates you have done your research well and then executed it on your model with perfection!

Thanks a lot Sodium for those pics. I imagined something like that...

Today a little work:

as in the pic of the echarpe blanche replic, Eduard gives little photoetched rectangle fot the holes inn the fuselage for the empennage commands

locking at the pics (type H of the museum and old type L picture), I saw they were much more big and circular:

when I started painting the fuselage in fabric color gunze H316 randome, the peint put in evidence the ocean of glue I used to fix the photoetched parts.
So I decide to take it of I do it more conform to reality (even is paralelism is quite strange)

I received the 0.3mm drills, I'm going now to do a plenty of holes in the wing!!!

You have a wonderful gift to research material then apply what you have found to your model with perfection, this is turning out to be a real gem.

Thank you des!
Speaking about painting , we have a parasol autochrome:

The color are quite pale (the fabric as the the wood pannel)

I prefere to take as reference the MAE museum typa G as their Ni-11.

I tried to represent the varnish not spraid out in a regular way., like the Nieuport fuselage fabric...

for this i used Gunze H66 quite diluted.

I went on the pannel wood too...
