All,
Been working on the prop since my last update. This is how I painted up the prop to represent laminated wood starting with the bare kit part

After cleaning up the kit part, painted two coats of ochre

Once base coat had dried, used fine paint brush to paint in the laminate wood bands using Revell 'wood brown' on top of the base coat thus - lamination painted free handed and no masking used - just touched up where required until I was happy with overall result

Left over night before applying artist oil (mix of burnt Sienna and umber) over the prop to blend in and achieve overall wood tone effect. oil paint was drawn out using both large, coarse brush then smoothed out with softer brush thus

Prop was then left to dry for a couple of days. Once dry, sealed in with coat of clear orange. Prop decals applied when dry. This was then followed by four coats of semi gloss clear cote. This is the end result

Did not overly worry about to fine a job of painting the boss as this will not be seen once spinner installed - just painted in for sake of completeness.
Regards
Dave
