All,
Recent work has focused mainly on the painting of the fuselage in stages. Placed the cross and serial number decals to fuselage and fin onto the base coat. The dark blue was then painted over the decals when dry. The aim was to achieve these markings showing faintly through the blue top coat. Unfortunately, this has not worked out as well as I would have liked. The markings are
very faintly showing to the point you can barely see them - disappointing but I will have to live with this now.
After top coat dried, I applied the remaining decals. Assembled the elevator (and rigged this), rudder, MG's, cowling panels, flare rack, etc. Even knocked up a rack so I could add in the flare pistol as I thought it a shame not to use.
If honest though, a bit disappointed in my fuselage painting which has not come out as smooth as I would have liked. I also think my choice of blue may be darker than it should be - oh well!
Bob's Buckles tubes used on the elevator rigging - my first attempt at using these. Took me a couple of attempts to get right, but mastered it in the end. They certainly seem to make rigging a bit easier. I'm actually looking forward to rigging (not my favorite part of the build) and using them in earnest.
