Thanks Martin and Rick; most appreciated!

Michael, answering to your question: the yellow tape is cut to size Tamiya masking tape adhered with liquid cement; the black tape is graphic art tape for which I used cyano to keep it in place. Future will tell if I made the right decision...

Till next time,

Dagmar

Great work on the floats Dagmar, the use of the different tapes has worked extremely well, the details you have added to the floats is excellent.

Top class modelling, Dagmar. The floats are immaculate. A pleasure to behold.

Dear colleagues,

Thank you very much for the positive feedback! Indeed, slowly but surely it is going to end up as a float plane!

Next, I paid attention to the engine. Nothing shocking except for spending a lot of time on the Roden version of the Mercedes before finally deciding it would never give me what I wanted. Enter the WNW version!

Did some detailing with plastic bits and copper wire...

Till next time,

Dagmar

Nice work on the springs and lifters! I am looking forward to seeing the engine painted.

Hello Dagmar

This is so impressive. I'd never really considered having a crack at a W4 but seeing what you are achieving here makes me wish there were 26 hours in my day.

Best wishes
Nigel

The floats look really impressive. It will be interesting to see how you will deal with attaching them.

with every update, I am impressed more. Great work!
A model thrives on its overall impression and not on that every little disagreement over the original is hyped up as a disaster

Wow, some nice work going on here and the photography is superb ;) I love aircrafts with pontoons and I'm hoping WnW will do more of them since my scratch build skills aren't like yours :)

Dear colleagues,

After some unforeseen non-modeling time, I was finally able to get some things done.
But first of all, thank you Martin and Rick for your nice comments on the engine. Nigel, I would say, have a go at it before WNW does  ;) Concerning attaching the floats to the fuselage, Stefan, I think I will need a jig for it. Some ideas are already on paper, next the execution...
Alain, Wolf, Mike, Dric thanks a lot for your encouraging feedback!

So here is the current status: painting of the guns is done. First a thin coat of Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminium (which does not look smooth at all at first hand)...

...followed by a filter of Golden Airbrush Color Carbon Black, thinned with water to keep the metallic sheen. The small cushions are painted with acrylics and oils.

Till next time,

Dagmar
