Okay , didn't get the paint laid down on here . Missed a few details . Those four little rivet heads on the fuselage side took me over a hour to get them in place . Had a hard time holding them with the tweezers and placing them in their holes . Went through 12 of them . Carpet monster was well feed the other day and should be good for awhile .

I'm so enjoying the build of a model that I found an absolute beast. Your attention to detail is an object lesson.

Now as to that very hungry carpet monster. Have you considered taking up the whole carpet and laying  floor tiling throughout instead? It could save you money in the long run and giving the carpet a good shake could also help re-stock your small bits spares box.

Hi Nigel , glad you are enjoying the build  I'm working it , for a year now I have been asking the land lord on removing the carpet and getting tile down or something and by the sounds of it this might happen next year .

I did some more work today adding the top wing stacking pads to the leading edge of the wing . Finished off the hand holds and added pegs on the landing struts for the bungee cord . Managed to even test fit the under carriage . Figured I better do this now before I commit to paint . Also need to drill the holes for the turn buckles which total slipped my mind . No pictures though , haven't taken them yet .

Hey guy's , guess what .....first coat of paint is laid !

Since I'm using Avaittic 5 colour lozenge for this build and taking into account that the wings of the SSW D.III aren't over think like in other German types . The cord is finer . Eduards wings are way to think and with the amount of sanding which has already taking place 1.5mm could still be removed , but I was really tired of the sanding .

First step in the painting sequence is I only want the wing spars to show . Don't want the ribs pick out for this will be covered with rib tapes and won't show . For the wood I used Tamiya Desert Yellow thinned Tamiya x-20a and flat base . I will let this full dry over night and maski of the spars for the next stage . Around the wing spars Tamiya Buff will get sprayed and the rest of the surrounding will be sprayed white . Once this has dried the ribs will get masked and per-shading will be on the edges of the tape . A few coats of future once the tape is removed and she is ready for decals .

Well Rick , here is the pic's of that phase , fuselage got sprayed as white as well in prep for it's per-shading which will be done using Tamiya Hull Red . I will let this dry over night and will start masking the ribs for the per-shading of Tamiya smoke along the tape edges .
