It's very nice to see how the scale compares. You've done a very nice job on both of the interiors and the instrument panel it's fantastic.

Nice one Bud.

Cheers

Great work. Your 48th is just as good as the 32 for detail work!!

I'm just catching up with things I've missed lately.  A belated well done Bud!  The dual builds
is quite an idea, my friend, and very interesting.  Your talents and attention to detail is
amazing in both scales.  I will enjoy following your build(s) as you progress.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Guys, you've all been way too kind.  Thank you.  Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  We're kinda busy at the moment, selling one of our rentals.  It's in Montana and we live in California, so it's a challenge.

Finally finished the WNW cockpit.  This subassembly is a very nice kit in it's own right with lots of rigging.  I found it more challenging that an entire 1/48 scale plane.  I must have pulled out more than half of my anchor points while tensioning my lines.  Apparently, I cut the stems too short for corner locations.  Got it all sorted, though, with no real frustration.  I can see why you large scale guys love these kits so much.

On the other hand, I was very dissatisfied with the Eduard instrument panel and decided to make another from scratch using Airscale and APC decals with Aeroclub and Copper State bezels.

I also finished the 1/48 engine.  I replace the kit Clerget with one I had left over from my Camel Comic build.  I added brass tubing to the ends of the push rods to add a little dimension.

Just checking to see how it looks in the cowling.

The kit cowling had to be modified, as well, since it didn't have the correct ventilation slots.

Thanks for looking in, my friends.  Hopefully, I'll have both fuselages closed up by tonight and I can get some painting started.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello Bud:

These are coming along quite nicely. Your re-worked instrument panels look the business.  The brass ends to the pushrods really make it stand out nicely and adds interest to the front end.
The office on the tripe is really turning out great.  Outstanding workmanship all around Bud.
Looking forward to more.

Best

Thanks, Mark!  I've become hooked on these big EnZed thingies.  I just ordered the Biff, so that makes 8, including this one.  You've seen my display cases.  Where the hell am I gonna put 'em?
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Patrick!  So glad you like them.  The little one's going to require quite a bit of work to bring it up to standard, so the WNW part of the build will lag accordingly, I'm afraid.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Bertl!  As long as I keep having birthdays, she'll probably keep buying them for me.
Cheers,
Bud

Bud,

Your cockpit on your WNW Sopwith Triplane looks very good.  You also seem to have a knack for painting a realistic wood effect on your models.

Look forward to seeing more!

Tell her that, Bud.  ;D

It sure seems like they're coming twice a year!  When I factor in Christmas, Valentine's Day and our anniversary, the possibilities are almost endless.  Following the rule that one must outlive one's stash, I could live forever.
Cheers,
Bud

Well, the 1/48 cockpit is finished.

Sorry about the blurry pics.  I was rushing to get the fuselage closed up.  Here are a few shots of what I did on said fuselage.

That was before closure.  This was after.  Following the Datafile planview, I laid out the location of the rear bulkheads and formers.

Added a piece of pe scrap to assist in creating the upsweep of the rear decking.

Scored the decking with a saw and glued lead wire into the grooves.

Sanded.

Then painted.

Needs a bit more sanding.  I'll do that tomorrow.
Cheers,
Bud
