IanB - I use black elastic thread from worn stockings to rig 72nd scale models. Very flexible and forgiving material.
Pepperman and RAG - it was really one evening, some two hours or so. When I said it was easier than I though I meant, I had almost no problems, the CA glue was holding the lines at the first try, no need to repeat threading, cut too loose lines, etc. This does not happen always so. This time those 38 lines were very kind as if they wanted to pay back for the problems I had earlier with this build.

Usually I do not make bases for my models. But the floatplanes look unnatural without a beaching gear and that in turn is hard to assemble without a base. So I have prepared one using a custom made wooden frame and Polak base - meadow type. I will add a small plate with the aircraft name and affiliation, too.
