I feel your pain.  The same thing happened to me after returning from vacation.  I got rid of the cabinet and purchased a new one.  Repaired all of them but still need to repair rigging on the Ago C.IV. A chance to practice my repair skills.

I'm so sorry to hear about the shelf collapse! What terrible luck. Your models are beautiful - I have a couple of questions about them: what's the background on the Albatros D.V with the Star of David on the side? Do you know which Jasta it was from?  And the Hannover CL.II -- what's your source material for this bare plywood machine (a great subject for a modeler!).

Best wishes,
Jason

Shelf supports are now fixed in this cabinet and repairs have started . . .

Thanks Dave, appreciate it although good chance to practice my repair skills I'd rather be building something new if I'm honest  ;)

Appreciate it Jason, but soon have them back looking spic and span again . . . 8)

The DV is from Jasta 12. Pilot's name is as yet unconfirmed. There was a Micro scale decal sheet with this aircraft on it in a slightly later guise with a black tail and nose, but I found a picture of what looks like the same aircraft on the internet whilst trawling for schemes in which the tail has not yet been painted and, since I wanted to practice my painted wood effects, I decided on this slightly different version. There were several german aircraft that used the same star which crop up from time to time (I'm sure others will chip in with the pilots names)

The 'Hannover' is actually an LVG VI which probably explains the confusion about the scheme (lots of these with bare wood fuselages)

Good news is the repairs have started and the Floh is now sitting pretty again.
Using brass for the struts is a real bonus since the undercarriage was easily straightened and repainted with a new axle replacing the old one (now with added bungee cords) ;) . The port wing struts also had a slight kink which was straightened and retouched in situ without affecting the rigging and the tail skid needed a tweak with pliers to get it back to the correct shape. Only the undercarriage wires needed replacing  ;D

The other one I've started to repair is the old DR1 (my first model) Every strut was broken or bent and needed replacing along with the undercarriage, so this one is in for a full refit and will appear is a slightly different guise sometime soon

Hello Paul,
Thanks for your reply on the color schemes -- if you've got digital photo of the Jasta 32 Albatros D.V, I'd be grateful if you sent it....right, I see now that the two-seater is an LVG, not a Hannover -- my error! Great paint jobs all around -- very realistic and convincing.

Good luck with the restoration project,
Best wishes,
Jason

I admire how well you seem to have picked up the pieces (in more ways than one  :)) and tackled with the rebuild. It must have been a really shocking thing to happen. I once dropped a pusher (DH2) accidentally a short while before it was finished and it was bad enough. Stay strong!

Cheers, Skyhook

Hi Jason it's a Jasta 12 aircraft  8) (I've had a look and have deleted the original pic, but have printed a copy off somewhere which I'll see if I can find. The later version is easily available with a quick search)

Cheers Matey - onwards and upwards as they say (Reminds me I really must get round to a DH2, which I'll try not to drop . . . ) :o

Good to see progress being made here. I'm not sure I could summon the mojo to repair so much damage, so good on you!

Really pleased to see salvaging under way and good luck with it. Perhaps some of the models will be evn better as a result - at least that is some consolation.

PS if you do not have at least one pusher in your collection, then it is incomplete....!

Thanks Nigel (Be nice to get back to the Tripe, but these are bugging me)  ;D

Plan is for a couple to be updated slightly whilst they're being done so the DR1 has newer thinned wing ties, scope on the Spandaus and I'll add a hatch under the nose (especially for Nigel)  ;)

Definitely feel guilty about the lack of pushers at present, but will be rectified soon - promise

Power was off all day today so managed to get a sneaky few extra hours in on the workbench  :)

The V23 is all sitting pretty again
Straightforward repair needing the brass undercarriage removing, straightening and new axleadding for the wheels, the left wing was eased back into position and glued again; fuselage was slightly split, but thanks to the wonders of thin superglue you can barely tell  8) Couple of other tiny details repaired and it's nearly as good as new

A couple of extra details have been added to the DR1 along with a change of colour scheme including a scope from three pieces of stretched sprue and some wire and the underbelly hatch from 5 though card with stretched sprue again being used for the hinge and rivets

Good to see things progressing here. And those tiny details! Too small for my shaky hands.....

Man alive, that's rough.

I'm glad to see you're working through the snap, crackles and pops.

Keep going!

I agree with Nigel - that is some very tiny extra detail being added to the Dr 1. Good to see the V23 is repaired.

Stephen.

Thanks gents  ;D

At a show today so didn't get time to finish all the little jobs on the damaged triplane, but did get a little bit done when I go home so it now has three wings again! Will post a couple of pics of the new scheme when it's sorted later this week
