Looking terrific RAGIII.  I like the weathering and choice of scheme.

Thanks Tim! I have gone back/forward with the Strutter. Progress has been made...sort of. What do you guys think?

That is looking really good! I'm really hoping the masking on top of this finish will go well! 🤞🤞🤞

Looking really good Rick. The weave simulation, especially as seen on the tailplane, is most effective. Did you do the wrap around - that's the bit that would drive me batty with 'aeroskin' type coverings.

Thanks Fredrik! I am answering your comment first for the following reason:

I applied a couple of gloss coats over the decal PC 10. I know others have masked with No Trouble over well sealed Aviattic Decals, but I was not successful! The Decals DID NOT LIFT from the masking but curiously the Ink came off in the areas that I had masked on the upper wing? So, as Many of you have guessed, I think, I removed the PC 10 decals from the upper wings and fuselage sides. I then used some of Bobs Strippers over the white base coat to simulate the rib tapes. Once the first coat of My Tamiya PC 10 mix was sprayed, I removed the strippers and sprayed another coat of PC10.
This left a lighter rib tape and actually looks similar to the Aviattic rib treatment. Thus I went backwards and forwards  ::)

Thanks to all for the comments!!
RAGIII

PS: I want to emphasize that masking will not be necessary on the production Avaiattic decals as All Markings will be included!

Today I used the Masks provided by Fredrik and sprayed the roundels. All went well except the right upper wing roundel which needs correction work!

Tamiya was used for the white, Drooling Bulldog for the Blue and Red.

Hi Rick!
What a peculiar behaviour of the decals?! Colour removal through layers of clear... Your continued path forward looks successful though and it looks like you've mastered the masks. 😊

Good to see this progressing despite the challenges.

I really like your approach to this. I personally like subtle treatment of rib tapes in 1/32, as most of the moulded tapes are overscale and IMO don't need heavy preshading. On PC10/12, you can see a subtle shift in the lighting on the tapes on real aircraft and what you have done here really emulates that very well IMO.

I was unaware of Bob's "strippers" (and I had to google that very carefully) and these look like very useful things to have. The semitransparent nature is helpful in masking rib tapes - I found that challenging on the Scout build using Tamiya tape.

Thanks Fredrik. I think I know what happened. The mask actually lifted the clear coat which took the ink from the decal with it.

Yes, Bobs strippers are Handy for many things. Once you realize what they are and how reasonably priced Bob makes them  8)

I mentioned My thoughts earlier on overdone rib tapes. This method is pretty standard for My Roden builds!

Later yesterday I added the letters and numbers for the 43 squadron markings, again using Fredriks Masks!

I think it looks great Rick. Colour lifting from the PC10 decals is weird and plain unlucky. Your paint mix replacement looks perfect. To paraphrase the old Superman TV series. Is it brown? Is it green? No, it's PC10!  ;)

Thanks Richie! The color is certainly greenish/brownish  8) Just for the record if you compare the Horizontal Tail surfaces and the wings you can see that My rib method is pretty close to the Aviattic Decals!

Sorry Rick, I should have commented on how well you had matched the rib tape details of the decals. I did notice how well it had been executed but the dinner bell tolled and made me rush! :)

Both builds look great. I really like the look of the linen effect decals and look forward to them being available for sale. I'll hold off on my kit until I can get them.
