Yet another SIP (Stunner In Progress), Rick!

Everything I've seen from Aviattic has been beautifully done, and it seems there's going to be no exception with these decals.

Nice painting Rick. You seem to have matched the decals perfectly.

Good to see this progressing despite the challenges.

I then used some of Bobs Strippers over the white base coat to simulate the rib tapes. Once the first coat of My Tamiya PC 10 mix was sprayed, I removed the strippers and sprayed another coat of PC10.
I really like your approach to this. I personally like subtle treatment of rib tapes in 1/32, as most of the moulded tapes are overscale and IMO don't need heavy preshading. On PC10/12, you can see a subtle shift in the lighting on the tapes on real aircraft and what you have done here really emulates that very well IMO.

I was unaware of Bob's "strippers" (and I had to google that very carefully) and these look like very useful things to have. The semitransparent nature is helpful in masking rib tapes - I found that challenging on the Scout build using Tamiya tape.

Hi Nigel,
I'm curious - do you have a link to 'Bob's Strippers'?

Both the Scout and the Strutter are looking magnificent, Rick, some of your best work ever... (and that's saying something!!) Loving the fabric textures on the Scout, I feel subtle is better, and you have nailed it....  Regards, Marc

I'm sorry I've not commented much recently RAGman but I've been reading every update. The full-airframe decal concept for the Strutter is interesting and it's been great to see your progress, but for my personal taste the fabric effect is too much (with the caveat I'm yet to encounter an original piece of WW1 fabric aside from one of MvR's crosses).

Really wonderful work and and progress, Rick -

Those linen decals (you have done a great application job here) really look the part.

What a nice gesture of Richard to send you the test shots of cowlings!

I just don't get how you do these great double builds Rick. I think they both look stunning.

Where do you find the time?

Do you sleep at all?

Cheers,
Willem

Thanks to all for the comments. Some may know that the Strutter was destroyed in a fit of frustration. I was smart enough to sideline the Scout. So after Months I have made a tentative re-start on the CSM scout. I have run the rigging line through the pre drilled holes on the left wing cellule. May not sound like a lot but under My personal circumstances I think it is a monumental start back to modeling WW1.

Good to see you back working on this one. It's such a nice kit it should be relatively stress free to get completed and it will look great when it's done because it's looking very nice so far.
