Very nice interior work! I like the Oil stains on the lower part of the fuselage. You can already see that it’s a rotary engine here  :)
Andreas

Thanks Andreas. Pretty Much OOB so far. Yep, Oil Stains and soaked in oil is My goal on both builds.

Hi Rich,

Mike

Thanks Mike. Not as detailed as Kens build or what you would do but I am Ok with things so far!  I have progressed a bit since My last post. The interior work is almost done. Just control cables and touch up to do. After assembling the fuselage I realized that the Ugly seam behind the observers cockpit floor would be very visible. I took about 5 minutes to cut a paper pattern to cover the area. Once painted it will look like the fabric covered floor. The IP was painted with oils then Random Eduard  instruments were added. Not correct but it looks good to me.  Oh yeah, I also need to make some lap belts!

Next up is bringing the CSM Bristol Scout to this point !

I ended up using sheet styrene and strip to represent the fabric floor and formers/stringers. Valejo and Oils used for painting. The bracing wires are stretched sprue.

Gorgeous work RAGman, you've given me something to aim for with mine - particularly with the structural detail.

Great stuff Rick, adding the styrene sheet to cover the ugly joint was a great idea. It looks perfect, especially with the bracing wires in place. I'm so happy seeing you working on WW1 subjects again. Your builds are always inspiring and you seem to be having a lot of fun with these.

Thanks Zac! I am not doing anything out of the ordinary on this one. The basic kit is pretty good. I must admit that I found the directions a bit vague in some places. I was glad that I had a couple of other builds to refer to.

Thanks Richie. It didn't take long to realize that sheet styrene would give a better result than the paper. The rest was pretty straight forward.

Nice work so far!

Thanks Jeroen! I mentioned in the comment to Zac that I found the directions to be a bit vague in places. Two of those are the location of the observers cockpit floor and the IP. The arrow showing where to locate the IP looks like it points to the bottom of the Fuselage...at least it does to Me. I changed mine twice and after looking at Sandys' build I think I have finally figured things out, so third times the charm!

I agree with Richie that the plastic sheet solution to the seam problem was the correct one - simple but effective.

When I looked at the last photo of your 14/7/23 post I thought that you had made the wood parts from wood! That is one of the best simulations  for wood that I have seen for a very long time.

Stephen.

Nice weathering and painting there, Rick.  Definitely a 'used' look.

Thanks Stephen your comments are always appreciated. The wood is pretty much the standard method, beige acrylic with oils over to represent the wood. I think the Tamiya weathering powders made the floor look used and more like real wood. JMHO.

Thanks Ken. In My opinion these Rotary birds were most likely as oily and dirty inside as out  8)

Today I more or less caught the CSM Bristol Scout build up with the Strutter. All went well assembling the interior and joining the fuselage halves. I needed to do some trimming here and there to make sure the lower wing would fit but it was My Own Fault!

Nice work on both builds. I think you captured the  heavy wear these aircraft experienced in operational theatres.

All the best,
Tim

Loving this, Rick. I really want to build one of these now after seeing yours and Mike's, and Richie's brilliant scratchbuild.
