Next update, the tub for engine and cockpit completed, had a dry run with fusilage sides they were a good fit with no apparent problems.

Thanks Gregory, had a bit of a mare with the interior woodwork on the fusilage sides, but luckily it was oils, so I was able to clean it off and redo it, also made a start on the engine.

Real disaster reared its ugly head yesterday, whilst building the engine I had all the Taurus mods painted and ready to go, I modded the kit parts, started to assemble the Taurus parts and as I added the rocker arms I looked and thought that aint right the bits don't line up, tried to reassemble the valve springs and they are hopelessly out of line as are the rocker arms, by now it was too late to move the rocker boxes, it looks terrible.
However the not so bad side is I've an old Merc. DIIIau engine from an uncompleted Roland which I've managed to salvage, so this will have to do, it doesn't look too bad.

I have no luck what so ever with Rolands, methinks I will go back to building Albies which I don't have any problems with.

Cheers

Dont feel too bad. There is an issue with the Taurus D.IIIa camshaft (which Keith pointed out)-- it is about 1mm too long and doesn't line up with the cylinder centers/valve springs without some modification. I'm just getting to this part myself. Keith's solution is to cut it into pieces in order to shorten it; I'm afraid I will have to go this route myself although I'm not thrilled about it because you want that shaft arrow straight and doing this will make that a challenge, to say the least. I plan on pre-boring the camshaft to fit a locating pin before cutting it apart.

Thanks for the info Bo, however the camshaft was well and truly c/a'd on before the problem came to light, we live and learn.

Hello Pete:

Yes, each model is indeed a learning experience.  Luckily, you had an extra engine to put in the model.  Sometimes the aftermarket stuff just doesn't cut the mustard.

Looking forward to see how you are progressing.

Best

Well it looks like I can go ahead with the new engine, I managed to get the Taurus camshaft off without any damage to the cylinders, so I will carry on building it with the kit camshaft, which I know fits ok, I will see how things go, I can always fall back on the spare engine if disaster strikes again.

Cheers

Pete.
