I told Zac I would try to do a build log on the Airfix 1/72nd New Tool Do 17z. Having received the kit today I figured I would do My best to fulfill that intent.  The kit looks to be quite well done with recessed panel lines and fairly good interior details. In typical RAGIII style there are always 2  8) So I am adding My WIP of the Me110 by Eduard. This was a Profi kit so has some nice PE instrument panels and other details. IN particular the Masks for the canopy were awesome. I will add photos as I can.

Good to see you building something Rick. The finish on the 110 looks the business.

I will be interested to see the Do 17: I well remember building the old too Do 215 decades ago: this will be in an altogether different league.

Stephen.

Looking forward to this Rick!  I fell in love with the Do-17Z as a kid from building the old Monogram 1/72nd scale kit. I bought one of these second had with some p/e thrown in and it sits in the stash for "one day". I have seen anyone else's build of this, so I'm looking forward to yours.

Thanks for All of the replies Guys! I should have an update on the 110 soon. The Do 17 really looks great in the box. I well remember How Terrific those of us Old enough to remember, thought the Old Monogram kit was! This one is far more detailed to say the least! One thing I will look for is a set of Canopy Masks!!!

Here is the latest on the 110. Both upper colors applied, RLM 70 and 71. Tamiya, and Humbrol with some Polyscale worked in.

Good progress on the 110 Rick.  The box art on the Dornier 17 kit is fantastic, Airfix were always great at providing a dramatic scene to capture the imagination. I'm looking forward to seeing it underway.

Rick,
Beautiful progress on the 110 so far. I'd say a canopy mask is called for there, but for the Dornier I'd say it's a must! (I can well remember trying to paint that as a kid, and trying to scrape off my splooges with a toothpick.

Thanks Richie. Yes the Box art is Dramatic and has convinced me along with The Airfix Historic Facts, to go with these Markings.

Thanks Warren. I made a bit of progress today in that I re-sprayed the underside blue on the 110. Tomorrow I think I will start some preliminary work on the DO17.

Progress was made today on both Aircraft. The Me 110 has been prepped for decals and initial markings applied.

and I have begun to paint the interior of the Do 17 RLM Grey. I painted anything that looked like it should be 02, I will adapt some parts as I go along  ::)

The 110 is looking fantastic, this is going to be such a great collection of BoB aircraft. Nice to see the Do17 underway. Ooh I just had a thought, did you have a Walrus on your list? It's great to see you kicking back and having so much fun with this project.

I'll take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year Rick!
