The lovely large closeups of this amazing work make you forget how tiny this stuff really is. And how difficult it is to achieve the results you get.  Wonderful work.

Thank you for your kind comments Nigel, Warren, Rick, Alexis and Andreas.

The Albatros D.I is standing on the table waiting for the glue on the undercarriage to harden.
The undercarriage is completely installed, the wheels are on, and the undercarriage legs are already tensioned.
Of course, the two rigging cables in the lower section have also been soiled with oil-based paint to match the rest of the undercarriage.

Btw, the upper wing of the D.I is not crooked or bent as it appears in the pictures; this was due to the camera's focus.

A short time later, I also fixed the propeller to the nose of the Albatros.
I think that I will be able to check off the construction of the Albatros D.I as finished tomorrow, or Monday at the latest.

Landing gear on, propeller on, tail unit and wings sealed on all sides with a mixture of silk matt clear varnish and two drops of beige .... so I think the thing is finished.
Wait, I've just seen in the pictures that the pressure line from the cooling water expansion tank, which is routed up to the upper wing, is still missing - but OK, I'll do that later.
The last picture shows the difference between the wing structure of the Albatros D.I/D.II and the later D.III/D.V and D.Va series.

Well, the Albatros D.I from this construction report is now history - the first layer of dust on the wings can already be seen ::)
The "Rote Vier" ("Red Four") can be found in the "Completed Models" section:

https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=14948.0

In the meantime, work has also continued on the Albatros D.V D-1187/17 of Jasta 10.
The fuselage is now finished except for the aging and weathering.
The leather surround around the cockpit has only been painted with the base color.
The leather effect will be created with various oil colors in the future.

The rudder is also finished apart from the sealing of the decals with matt varnish.

The decals of the iron crosses on the rudder and fin are blended together with the appropriate color.

The suspension on the tail-skid was made with 0.30mm thick solder (wire). Of course, this still has to be painted accordingly.
The fabric wrap on the skid was made with very thin tissue paper.
